Tire brand when car was new from factory for 1988 vert

I wonder if any one knows what tires Mazda used for th USA 1988 vert. The window sticker says steel-belted . I have looked at pictures read data sheets. Hmmm! Good year? Michelen?

GoodYear Gatorback, at least that's what our '88TII came equipped with when new, and also GY on the '89TII when new, but don't remember the model of the tire as they were horrible in the rain as the car would hydroplane at 40+mph. A little background on the GY tires. The size was to be 215/55-16, but back then that size was an unicorn, so the 205/55-16 tires were used. Also, the car manufacturer designed the tread while the tire manufacturer created the carcass to specs needed and there were 5 different 205/55-16 manufactured by GoodYear that year for various companies. I purchased one of the first '89TII's delivered here in the US, so after speaking with GY about the problems in the rain, they replaced them with another tread design and no more problems.

I have a set of the '88 TII OEM wheels and original GYtires stored in the pole shed, no reason why except that I didn't want to dump them and they were used on the '89TII roller in the pole shed until I put the car on blocks a few years ago.
A little more than what was asked for, but had a few minutes before breakfast.

Just looked at the showroom brochures and all I could see was that the '88 SE, '88 Covert, '89 GXL all have Bridgestone.

My 90 GXL came from the factory with 205/60VR15 Bridgestone Potenza RE-71 tires.

that is what the parts catalog says too, 9062-06-6705 is the part number.

fun fact, the original RE-71 was engineered specifically for the FC

I think my '86 RX7 Sport also came with Bridgestone Potenza RE-71 tires.

I didn't know that about the RE-71 being specifically engineered for the FC. The RE-71 was a good tire.

The Convetible did indeed come with Bridgetone Potenze RE-71 tires.
