If it's a stock exhaust, pull it off & pressure wash it. Then use a scrub pad & dish soap to clean any missed rust/dirt. Then use your drill with the wire-wheel brush attachment. If you have a dremel, use the tiny cone wire wheel brush to get in the nooks.

Once you have all the rust off, hit it with your favorite color 900-1200 degree high-temp spraypaint. If you like, get your tips can be re-chromed for fairly cheap.

Might try some #0000 steel wool, it's worked for me on chrome & stainless

according to myth busters...coca-cola as your cleaning agent and aluminum foil for scrubbing.

wow i was gonna suggest a very light mixture of acid because thats what my dad uses to clean rust around the house. its a lot cheaper than other cleaners but make sure you use a very light mixture.

but after hearing the coke thing i dont see why that wouldnt work but i dont know about aluminum foil. but hey those mythbuster guys do some crazy things that do work.

If I'm buying a new exhaust should I apply anything to keep it from rusting? Fogging Oil? I don't want my new stock exhaust to rust.
