timing

ok how should these things be timed?? on mine i have found alot of things that were adjusted wrong (aka screw for the idle...no wonder it wouldnt idle) so any how the crank sensor is adjusted all the way towards the fire wall...is this right or should it be else where....and what are symptoms of bad timing....the only problem i have occasionally is starting after warmed up

Well, not so familiar with the 90, but let me try this. How does it idle when you first sart it up? Does it idle any different when you run it for a while?
Check these.

1. how is your Thermo Wax Pellet? If it is clogged, your car will idle very high until finally it will level off (10 minutes later) from the engine warming up the thermo wax pellet and not your radiator temp. Then, you would notice you idle drop hard, forcing you to adjust you CAS again.Check the hose from your Water Pump housing and make sure the hose is not clogged going into you Wax Pellet. Pull it off if you notice nothing, pull the pellet, and drop it in a pot of boiling water and see if the nipple expands. ( I spent a month trying to figure out why my cas had to be slammed, it was my wax pellet)

2. How about your TPS? Have you adjusted it to FSM? Hailers mentioned using a Digital Meter to adjust it, and I like that method. However, you can build a dial light system that will allow you to adjust that way instead of having to access the computer.

3. check you BAC, make sure it is working properly. Then, there are also two sensors, one on the back of the Radiator, driver side, the other on the back of the Water Pump Housing. They can affect you idle as well, if I am not mistaken.

read threads that, NZConvertable, or Hailers have writtne bout this subject, those guys are great.

Good luck,
Chris

well i loosened the cas and i was worng it is slammed all the way to the front...and it cant be adjusted back the other way the car will stall is it timed wrong?? give a piston engine i know what to do but you cant exactly tdc this engine so what to do?

Either way the cas is slammed, makes no difference. That is not the problem. Again, more than likley, it isnot your problem. You can read through some of my posts and see I had the same problem. One of, or more than one of, you sensors is not working. IIIIIIIII have a feeling your thermo wax pellet is fked up. You know where that is?

When you start up the car where does it idle?
When the car warms up where does it idle?
Does the idle drop when the car is warmed up, or does it do anything?
