Like I said, its my opinion. But I am getting tired of muddling through posts like:

-Hey guess what I got an FC/RX-7/laid!! (x3)
(NO SHIT you got an FC! what other reason would you be here?)

-My car wont start!
(Admittedly, I posted that when I was new too, but the sheer number of them in the 2nd gen section is MIND BOGGLING!)

-COOL AS FUCK FC/RX-7/PANTS/DRIVING GLOVES/Etc..
(IF you need justification for your life, try a support group, not the internet.)

oh, here is my favorite....

-Does this look good? Should I buy this?
( NO! IT SUCKS! Go buy a Honda!)

My point is, how on earth did that whole nonsense with Jcina7 get to like 10 FUCKING PAGES? WHERE ARE THE MODS!?!?!

Rat

*edit* WAIT!!!!

I think the moderators follow the rules too closely. I can understand their unwillingness to terminate/close/ban threads because a person really hasn't broken any "rules." But I wish they would take some more liberty in dispensing authority. I think the job of a moderator is two fold:
1) Enforce the rules. For the most part, they are doing a great job. Flamers and assholes are usually shut up pretty quick, considering there are like 3 mods governing several thousand users.
2) Keep the forum flowing smoothly. This is where I wish they would step up a little more. I don't mind a little humor every once in a while, but it's getting ridiculous. These 10 page post whoring extravaganzas with some troll or newbie just aren't funny anymore when they happen twice a week. Add to that the number of useless topics that *REALLY DO* belong in the lounge and about 1/3 of the posts in this forum are trivial nonsense(ok, that's a nonsense estimate, but maybe 1/4-1/5). I understand a lot of people have most of their RX-7 friends in the 2nd gen forum, I do too, but personal anecdotes about your trip to the Drive-In, or what you did last night, don't really belong in here AND they set a bad example for newbies. Has anyone else noticed that? JoeBlow(I hope that's not a real username) with 15 posts sees RXGuru(again, ficticious hoepfully) with 1500 posts talking about some chick he banged last night and then thinks it's ok to litter a "technical" forum with junk.

Having said this, I don't want the moderator job, nor do I envy the guys who have it. Furthermore, I think you guys ARE doing a great job, I've always enjoyed my interactions with you all. This is merely some constructive criticism from someone who wants to help better the forum, not an egotistical megalomaniac or anything like that. :)

Just my $0.02!

Steve
