just got a turbo hood, and it won't close all the way? the person i bought it from said it might have been an s5 hood. mine is an S4. is it supposed to be this way? anyway to get it to fit on so it does close all the way??(i'll put pics in the morning) any info would help. thanks.

The hoods are the same.
I put an S4 hood on my 'vert after I crashed into a van. Try adjusting your hood latch by loostening the three bolts holding it in and moving it up or down or left or right, then tightening it again and try closing the hood again.. |
Did you use a alum hood latch?
There are two different latches. One for steel and one for aluminum hoods. Using a steel hood latch with an aluminum hood will result in the hood being very hard to latch. |
Good to know! Now I know why I need to slam my T2 hood. Next time I go to the junkyard I'll pick up an aluminum hood car's latch.

Give the hood to me and you wont have anymore problems :bigthumb:

I couldn't get my hood to close on my TII after this last rebuild (2nd time this has happened after a rebuild, lol) so I removed it and tried to clean it as best I could. I still couldn't get any results, so I had the bright idea of swapping my N/A's hood-latch in place... I was shocked when THAT one didn't work, because I knew for a fact that it did. Well, out of a last-ditch effort of frusteration, I SLAMMED the hood, and to my suprise it latched, lol!. What I would do: Take a 'strong' screwdriver and have it simulate what the hood-latch would do... I'm not talking about pushing it 'down and through' the pussy FIRST "latching", I'm talking about pushing it FARTHER down into the much tighter, REAL hood latch. It takes a little effort as the screwdriver will want to slip around in there as your pushing down on it, but if you can get it to "click" and latch without the hood, this should set you up for success when you use the 'real' hood next time. Simply release the latch from inside the car and try the hood. |

thats what ya'll get for bastardizing these cars!!!!!!!!!
I don't think that there's any physical difference in the latches, I think its the springs they used in the latches.... |

my hood doesnt not want to latch down for nothing. And my trunk doesnt want to come up unless you pull on the rear winshield wiper.
