good point my man....on forums rice gets way overused...but sometimes when im hanging around ************* afraid to say **** is whack in fear of being called a hater! imagine that...haha...

 

its alive....live thread LIVE! haha...dang its not rice its jus a nice hood hehe why be so **** about it...i would be mad if i had a T2 or a NA n i knew people that slap that on there n go aroudn claiming but i doubt most peopel claim...n most people will readily admit its not a T2 if it ever comes up...so how can it be rice...thats like one of the first thing that attracted me to the FC wast he T2 hood....n i mean u guys keep saying just go buy a T2 but hell u act like we all got money n time to jus go out n get one--we work wit what we giving right? so why not slap one on there...not saying i woudl do it myself if i had the opition...i rather drop cash into performance first...but damn i kill to get a white FC wit a T2 hood...if it really is a T2 best if its not on a NA its cool to...i love that look...n yah tahts about it haha---i think ive bene reading this thread for about 2-3 hours now:-D

It's like sticking a WRX hood on a 2.5RS Subaru. People will think it's a WRX. Why? Because only WRX's have the hood scoop for the intercooler. It's /theirs/. They need it.

You take that unique performance styling element and stick it on a slower car and you get...Rice.

wouldnt putting S5 tailights on an S4 be considered rice then? I mean, it meets all of your criteria for rice. Its not a performance mod, its just there for looks, and it makes people think your car is an S5 instead of an S4. hmm, thats your definition of rice, to a tee. So is this mod ricey? Cause I know how everyone loves it.

Nope, because the S5 tailights came on all models of the RX-7, not just the TII. It is not a unique performance styling element /that defines the model of car/.

When you see a TII, you know it's a TII because of the hoodscoop. That's what defines that model visually.

Another example, the Ram Air hood of the Pontiac Firehawk. It needs those twin nostrils to feed the high flow air intakes into the V-8. If you like the looks of that Ram Air hood, and stick it on your V-6 Firebird...that's Rice.

You're stealing a unique performance styling element and putting on a car /that can't back it up/. In other words, "All Show, no Go." Rice. It looks fast with the hood...but it isn't fast. Rice.

That's about as clear as I can make it.

yeah, but people that know RX-7's and see S5 tail lights will think that car is an S5. S5's have more power than S4's, so the S4 would be trying to look like something it isn't, and something that has more power. Sorry, but I think thats a shitty theory. there are a few things that I would say are ricey, but not this.

I can see where you're trying to go with it...it's a good attempt...but it ain't flyin'. If "people that know RX-7's" know about the S5 tailights...they'll certainly know about the S4's black rub strips.

Now if the TII only came with some kind of BOV vented tailights, that served some kind of genuine performance purpose...that /defined the higher performance model visually/ then it would be Rice to stick it on a non-turbo model.

People will look at the tailights and go, "Ooh, it's the one I shouldn't mess with!"

A TII hood on a NA is Rice. People will think you have a Turbo RX-7...when you don't. People will think you're silly fast...when you aren't.

All Show, No Go.

I have both hoods, and I just straight out think
that the Turbo hood looks so much better. And from
what I read above (3 post up) if you put a Turbo engine
in a NA Car you are a ricer. Huh thats funny. I know a guy who has a old school Chevy he turboed that beast
and I guess he's now a ricer too. great so if your going to mod your carwith anything that is not or was not stock from the factory when your car was made your now considered a ricer. Freaking Sweet. This is a great topic. Lates Matt22

its not "either u get it or u dont"---not jus black or white like that...there a whole lot of gray when it comes to defining rice. why dont u just say "that is rice in my opinon." and leave it at that? the majority is against u anyways haha....its all good if its rice to you then dont do it...hell i dont trust no one until they pop their hood...i say u take that approch wit cars to cuase everyoen claims something or another.

 

Speak of the motha Frontin dead. If you are putting the hood on to make people beleive you have a turbo car, rice. If you do it for another reason that noone else knows about, Not rice. Hey you could route you N/A Intake to suck through the scoop and say it ram air. Is that rice? NOT How many ricers have ram air? None they have "cold air" Haha. its only cold if you cool it with presure or dry ice. It should be cooler than engine bay air IF you have a COOL AIR BOX! Hehe. Man this thread is old. I can't beleive this argument is still going on. I guess its like the V8 swap crisis.

Man, I had two NA's with TII hoods, and I can say that I definitely think it is rice. What's worse is that one of the TII hoods is steel! But, I bought them both that way, so I didn't really worry about it. The one with the aluminum hood had some nice Cobra rims, so it looked blingin' anyway...
