TII Ecu Problems

Ok here is a summary of my situation.

I have a 1990 gxl and bought a TII JDM engine to swap for the N/A. I took the N/A harness and swapped it over to the new engine and the swap is complete now.

The TII JDM engine came with a N3A7 ecu which is the FD ecu if I am correct. I figured the individual who had the engine before had it working with that ecu so I thought i'd give it a try. Well now I am at the point where the car starts but only with the yellow test connector for the fuel pump jumpered and when it is running you can't rev it without it just backfiring. It is for sure getting FAR too much fuel and also my dash isn't operating properly with the FD ecu.

In the end I decided i'm just going to get the proper ecu but since it is the JDM engine should I get the N374 ecu or since I am using the N/A harness and the car isn't jdm should I get the N370 ecu??? I've also heard things about the N374 ecu's causing people problems but once they bought a new N370 things worked great....

so which ecu should I be looking at???

It's JDM, use the JDM ECU. N374

Ok...

For arguements sake, what if I was able to get my hands on a N370 for cheap. It would run better off the N374 but it would still run just fine with the N370 also, no??

I've got a JDM 13B (S5) swapped into my 89 vert. I didn't do the work so my knowledge my not be that usefull. I'm using an N370 ECU with some pins swapped on my N/A harness. A quick search of these forums will turn up more knowledge than what I can give out.

One of the differences between N370 and N374 is the CEL function. The JDM ECU won't have that.

well if im correct the fuel connector has the fuel pump pumping constantly...so yes its getting to much fuel. If you rev it and it chokes and backfires that means it has to much fuel so the pump is working(with and without the connector). What happens without the connector? Dose it start, dose it start and die?

Yes it starts and then dies, I've checked relays and grounds and everything but there are other concerns I have with the current ecu such as when the key is removed, lights on the dash stay on... forever (or until I disconnect battery). Also it is telling me the exhaust is overheating right away when the car starts but I know for sure the sensor is not getting a proper reading. I've heard you can fix the pin-up for it to work on that ecu but nowhere can I find which to change to what so i'm keeping my options open.

I would go with the JDM ECU then... for one if it wasent given stock it shouldent go(unless its aftermarket) in. I was not sure if it was just the fuel issue or more.... now i know.

+1 on ECU
