TII diff into 4lug NA question
 

I'm going to the dark side and doing a TII swap into my s4 NA and going with the TII tranny and rear end as well.

The question is.. Can I continue to use my 4 lug hubs on the rear end with the TII half shafts?

It has been suggested I do a TII tranny and use a modified custom driveshaft and just continue to use the NA rear end.. but my rear isn't LSD and if I am gonna swap it I might as well do a TII rear into it.

Eventualy I will do a 5 lug conversion but I don't want to have to buy new rims right now.

I don't see why not.

It will work just fine. You need a T-II tranny, starter, flywheel, clutch, driveshaft, diff, and halfshafts. The stock 4 lug setup will work fine with it all.

Reason I ask is becuase for some reason two people told me I could not do it and then others say no big deal..

I mean it makes sense why it would not be a problem because NA halfshafts work on 4lug to 5 lug.. and a TII halfshaft SHOULD work on a NA 5 lug..

That would be awesome.. would end up saving me 700.00 or so on new rims, bearings, seals, front pads, front rotors, ss lines for the front and two 8mm speedbleeders instead of the 7mm I have on there now..

But then I still lose out on the 4 pistons.. will have to revisit it some other time..

I haven't done that myself, but yeah, you should be able to use the 4 lugs, but do you really want too???

I don't "want" to.. but it's a money thing right now.. if the breaks are something I don't HAVE to replace right now.. then I can save up and get the rims I want. The only real difference are the breaks. Not long ago I just overhauled my 4 lug breaks.. all new fluid, Master Cyl, hawk pads, SS breaklines, remachined the rotors.. and they work great. I have more break fade than my 4 piston friends but it's not horrible.

Oh that's the other thing.. there are new bearings on the hubs right now.

As long as you are doing just a swap and not expecting too much power right now, you will be fine. Just make sure your studs and bearing and stuff are in good shape. I didn't think there was much of a difference between the turbo and non-turbo lines and cylinders, though I am probably wrong.

I'm doing the same swap, but all i'm doing is that i'm just getting the whole rear end and swapping it in my SE. My question is would the TII driveshaft fit the N/A tranny?? Since now that i found out that the half shafts would fit rite in the 4 lug. I'm glad that i don't have to spend more money rite away.

What is the smallest size of rims can i use on a TII rotors and 4 piston calipers??

No. With the transmission/driveshaft/differential/halfshafts, it's all Turbo or all NA.
