TII aluminum hood hard to close

The aluminum hood is very hard to close in my 87 TII, especially in cooler temps. I have adjusted the latch, but no luck. I have to slam it 2 or 3 times to get it to latch.
After the car has been driven, with the hood warm, it closes fine.
I have also discovered by heating the front 4 rubber mounts with a het gun, it will also close okay.
I have come to the conclusion that, due to their age, the rubber may be stiffer than new ones, hence the problem.
Before I go out & buy new mounts I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the aluminum hood, & if replacing the rubbers is the cure?
TIA
Stew

not sure about this.... but is it a factory hood for your car???? or did you put a t2 hood on a na??? maybe the hood latches have different spring tensions for steel and aluminum hoods?!?!?! not sure, but mine does the same thing, and thats the only thing i can think of

Latches were different for aluminum and steel hoods I believe.

Latches are different between alum and steel hoods. Is the hood not original?

and should be able to just drop the hood (not slam it or push down ever on a aluminum hood car) to latch/close it.

It's the original hood, & the car has'nt been in an accident.
Thanks

try spraying some WD40 on the mechanism and pushing it in with a flathead screwdriver several times.

For some reason this worked for me about 3 weeks ago when I couldn't get my hood to latch. I have the aluminum TII hood... Shut's just fine now.
