TID mod using PVC piping - specific questions

I've decided to use 2.5 inch PVC piping to do the TID mod. I have a few specific questions that I was unable to find searching. 1) Since I am using 2.5 inch piping (actually it is 2 - 3/8 OD) it meets flush with the turbo intake. I would like to fasten the piping right against the turbo intake to reduce any turbulance that could result in sudden changes in diameter. Is it a bad idea to have PVC piping directly against the turbo intake? I can't imagine that section of the turbo being hot enough to damage the PVC. 2) Do I need a certain kind of PVC glue to withstand the heat of the engine compartment? I bought some standard piping cement which I beleive will work fine, but I would like to be sure. I appreciate your responces. By the way, I am going with 2.5 piping to clear the air pump, so don't tell me to use 3".

thanks,
kevino

Don't use PVC, it can create noxious fumes if it gets hot enough..

I've seen a lot of other people using PVC as well as write ups for using it, so I thought it would be alright to use it. Has anyone experienced noxious fumes from using PVC? I can't imagine temeratures being high enough for this to happen, considering how much plastic crap is already in the engine bay.

I might be wrong, but I think that the poeple who use that type of pipe use the black ABS piping.

I'm not sure what the black ABS piping is, could anyone clarify? thanks

Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene, is that what is stands for? I'm guessing the major advantage is heat resistance, is that correct?

Could anyone who has used ABS piping comment on this? Also, has anyone out there used regular PVC piping?

im using....

im using a pice of 3" muffler pipe with a slight bend in it to go from the turbo to the AFM then a span of curved pvc from the AFM down through where the sprayer bottle was and i have my filter mounted down in the front bumper.

i had to remove the brake duct on that side.

the muffler pipe gets hot... thats why i didnt use pvc right there. the whole CAI cost me about $20..

just a thought. maybe use 2.5" pipe for your setup... they sell all kinds of bends and stuff on jegs, summit, and ebay.

I'm using ABS plastic, works fine.

I'd use the black stuff.

If it can withstand pressure/heat from being a potatoe gun it can work in our cars.

I also have some black ABS piping for a temporary TMIC replacement while I tune. Hasn't failed me yet :D
