throwout or pilot barring ?

trans -S5 Tii
clutch -6 puck act
flwheel -alum 9lb

the car will make a creaking/squealing sound when ever the clutch is depressed. this leads me to believe the throwout and pilot barring are going bad. clutch grabs fine and never slips. trans shifts smooth and doesn't shake more then normal. the light fly wheel will clunk when at idle, depressing the clutch will stop the clunk/knock sound and will replace that with the squealing sound.

When I go to replace these parts is there anything else I would need to not overlook and replace when its pulled apart ?

it was my throwout bearing..whatever plastic bushing or whatever that was in it shredded and the bearing melted..but yeah, squeals and it smoked a little than finally let go...found plastic shavings in my starter, wasnt too happy.

if the pilot bearing is shot you can tell by starting the car up and putting it in neutral and listen for a slight grinding sound that will go away when you push in the clutch. id say your throwout bearing is the problem

+2 for through out bearing

It's more than likely the pilot bearing. When the clutch is out the e shaft and trans input shaft are spining at the same speed so the bearing is doing nothing. Step on the clutch and there is a speed difference so the bearing will rotate.

Correct me on this:

Clutch Disengaged(Pressed) - Noise goes away -- ThrowOut Bearing.

correct to a degree, a trashed throw out bearing will make noise either way but a pilot bearing will not make noise with the clutch out.

Noise with clutch engaged, pilot....Noise with clutch disengaged, Throw out. Plain and simple.

Doesn't really matter though. Once you open her up you are going to want to change your pilot anyways. Just do both.

Today I adjusted my idle, it was around 600-800 really bouncy like. I got it to idle purfect at 950-1000 and the noises pretty much stopped. The engine doesn't knock around and the car is very smooth again. The clutch is still making a little bit of noise but not as m,uch as before with the bad idle. Throw out and pilot barring are ordered and I will put them on eventually.

Don't wait to long. I put it off and my throwout basically exploded. It wasn't good and you end up stuck on the side of the road. Do it as soon as you can.
