Throttle Cable Questions
Hello,
A few nights ago I was messing with my stand alone and I had a friend turn my car's throttle plates open just to see if there were any inconsistencies between what my foot saw and what was actually full throttle. And apparently I'm only getting to about 65-75% of fully open, according to the TPS output differences. I did this mod: https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/how-mod-throttle-body-use-n-throttle-cable-824192/ There is no slack in the N/A throttle cable, so I'm kind of confused as to what could have caused this. does the pedal not have enough of an action to actuate the entire/most of the motion from the factory? Cliffs Throttle cable won't open throttle more than 70ish% no slack in cable did this mod: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=824192 why? |
stupid question but did you confirm the throttle by opening it further with your hand?

also depends on the materials used, the flimsy aluminum arm pictured in that writeup will give you tons of flex and possibly not a full swing. i have done the conversion before but never had the issue you are referring to.

No stupid questions, I've had an assistant floor it and I can still open it more.
Im using the old cruise control cable bracket swapped over to the driver's side, this could be the original cable from the prior engine so its life may just be at an end. |
I made a throttle cable using a bicycle brake cable repair kit and a heavy duty ferrule from a hardware store (the supplied ferrules were too pussy). You could try doing that too, since you'd have a full range of adjustment when you go custom.
