Throttle Cable
 

My throttle is sticking when I drive and will hold revs unless I jab the throttle. I realized I never connected the brackets that hold it in place. I got the second one hooked up by the alternator but I can't remember where the first bracket hooks up. Could some one take a picture real quick?

I tried goggling rx7 engine images but didn't have much luck, and the TM did help much ether.

I know its trivial but a picture really is worth 1000 words.

The bracket at the throttle body bolts on with 2 bolts right behind the throttle, and the one at the firewall literally clips into place.

If the one at the throttle body is not bolted down, I'd assume it wouldn't even pull the throttles open very much, if any at all. Maybe you have some of the cold start linkage binding somewhere. See if the same problem happens when you operate the throttle by hand.

Sorry I was talking about the brackets that actually hold the cable up in place in the engine bay so that it doesn't bind.

I actually don't have any brackets holding mine up. I don't have a top mount any more, so that bracket is long gone. The cable won't bind up though, it's just a steel cable riding through a sleeve. Disconnect the throttle cable at the TB and move it through the sleeve to see if it's binding. If it is, then you need a new cable. Otherwise, I'm willing to bet the throttle body is hanging up on some linkage somewhere.

It's probably your TB getting stuck. Pull it off, clean all the moving parts and grease where applicable.

the cables seem to go bad in these, the FD too, they are just too long

brackets, there is a bracket on the bac valve, with a little white plastic thing the cable pops into, on in the front, its actually on the engine lifting hook, and then one over by the brake master cylinder
