throttle body on 87.wtf?

when i push my engine really hard (as if i were autoXing) and then i let off and drive normal, the rpm stays at about 1500 to 2500 and i have to pull the throttle back with my toe to get it to idle down. i have to keep my foot under the pedal for a couple of minutes so it evens out. why does it do that? could it be that it is just dirty or does it have something to do with the cams on the throttle? its really kind of annoying. N-E suggestions would be much appreciated!

Inspect all the throttle linkages (from pedal to TB) to see where it's binding. Check the return spring on the pedal. Disconnect both ends of the throttle cable and check it moves through freely. Thoroughly clean the TB linkages with carb cleaner. Don't use WD-40 or similar cleaners, as they leave a residue that simply attracts more dust and dirt. The linkages are designed to operate dry, and carb cleaner evaporates completely. :)
