Thottle plate question
 

hey....i have a problemo...

My 88 TII does not have a cat on it.....
I am running pretty damn rich...and my idle is funky....
I know there has been alot of replies to problems like this but what I really want to know is how to check the the throttle plates?? I think thats what they were called...
anyway someone said to check those on someone else's high idle problem post, and thats one thing that I have not checked cause i know nothing about it.

Where are they located?...
What does it look like?....
What am i looking for specifically?....etc....

My friend paul said my idle could be due to the cat not being there...(i didnt pull it myself it was gone when i got the car!)....

if that could be the problem would that have anything to do with me running rich as well??....
if you need any more info on my car just let me know and ill post that as well....and ANY help would be greatly appreciated.....

The throttle plates are located inside the throttle/dynamic chamber.

To get a them you have to remove the TMIC first, then remove the chamber...I'd download the FSM or get the Haynes Manual if I where you.

As far as the car running rich:
1. its normal, especially at idle.
2. you could have leaky injectors.

Lumpy idle:
1. Bac valve
2. Egr valve
3. leaky injectors
4. vaccum leak
5. other shit
6. any combination of the above...

That didn't make any sense.

What I meant was that you have to remove the intercooler hose from the throttle body...then you'll see the throttle plates.

There is a specific method in the FSM to check whether they are opening properly...:)

your having no cat has nothing to do with a high idle i have 0 of 3 cats and mine purs straight at 750 with tb mod and advanced afm and rich lean screw so its not that

Rotorific... what's an 'advanced afm'?
