Third brake light question...

does anyone make an LED conversion for the FC third brake light? I want to change the way mine looks a little, and this was a good choice of mod.

i havent found the LED bulb that fits in that socket, nor have I found the one for the lic plate lights either. All the rest of my bulbs are LED.

how is your flash rate. I know on GM vehicles with LED bulbs in the flasher locations the flash rate is fast, as if the relay is seeing a bulb blown.

does you flasher act like its got a bulb out due to the lower resistance across the curcuit?

edit: hehe -beat me to the punch

Yep, its rockin the ricer flash. But I am not terribly concerned, as I really like the savings on overall load.

I have a working prototype third LED brake light. I'll post some pictures later. It's the 5th prototype/versions one I have built, you'd be surprised at all the different LEDs and applications I have tried before getting sufficent brightness throughout. But this one does work.

It is not some simple bulb replacement as the bulb in the 3rd brake light sits sideways when compaired to normal incandescent lights, but rather a full panel/array of LEDs.

If there is enough intrest, it would sell for around $45+ core or $55 without core (need your old housing to make more).

you have my interest..

I just finished an FC and I put in another third brake light. It looks fantastic. All my pictures are very large files and don't work posting. If someone can tell me how you post them, as some seen in thumbnails which can be expanded, I will be happy to show details for a really different look.

Hmm I can't find my 5th generation version... this is a picture of the 4th gen version.

The 5th version has two rows of LEDs across the middle, instead of the three rows in the picture and a ballast resister so that the stop light fail light doesn't pop on (S4 models) when you have your foot on the brake.

you have my interest as well mark, i'd pick up two of them, one for mine, one for the vert :)
