thinking of buying an 87 RX7

I've got the chance to purchace an 87 RX7 for $700. It needs body and interior work mainly, engine is great but the shifter is a little sloppy. Nothing to major but is it worth the 700 or not, that's my main question. Thanks.

do you have any pics, sounds like a good price to me if it runs well

Definitely, I bought my 87 for 1000 about four years ago and its been great, 80 bucks or so for some new shifter bushings and your good to go. The greatness of the s4 motor, I'm going to turn 200,000 miles in a few weeks and still runs strong, what a great daily driver.;)

It's cosmeticly ugly, very ugly, but it started without hesitation Idled fine not one sign of smoke while running, not a drop of oil under the pan clean engine(no real grease spots). The clutch is a little soft but not bad. The windows don't roll down (bad switches) the door latch on the D.S door is gone(i'll get both sides shaved). I'll try to get some pics tonight or tomorrow and get them posted. the only thing I don't like is it's an ugly maroon but it'll change to a charcol if i do get it.

id buy it. how many miles on the engine? oh btw, i dont think shifter bushings are $80. i bought the upper and lower for less than $30. check here for them. there not even difficult to put in. see if you can get some compression numbers off the motor too. good luck.
