Are these rotors and housings salvageable?

Here's a Google Photo album because there were a lot of pictures I took, I'm not sure if that's allowed.

Anyway, the only things I noticed were burnt spots on the rotary housings and a lot of carbon build up.

I can't feel any bumps or ridges when I drag my finger across.

Thanks.

Dan,

Could you take photos with motion capture off? It's hard to study the parts with that function enabled. Your finger may not be able to feel all the ridges but a ball point pen may give you better results. From what I've seen, it looks like the housings have lots of chatter marks. The front and rear irons have heavy scoring from the side seals, etc... One of the rotors has a rough spot in its center. Perhaps cleaning them and measuring the surfaces would give a better answer. As I recall my motor rebuild, the housing needed replacement because of chatter and other scoring marks. However, more experienced builders may offer much more sound advice.

Cheers,
George

Thanks for the insight. I’ll try cleaning it... what do you mean by measuring the surfaces?

also, sorry my phone does this motion thing automatically, you can disable it with a button on the top when viewing the photos.

Is this something resurfacing may fix or should I invest in a new engine (or new housings)

Update: I found little visible scratches and a deep scratch on the rotor itself, I think the motor is toasted.

:(

also one of your plates inner coolant seal groove near the bottom seems to be cracked

those housings are pretty worn as well. resurfacing won't replace the stripped chrome.

Insightful is correct about resurfacing the chrome lining. Once scored, the housings cannot be repaired. It looks like new housings are required. Again, I am not an expert on motor rebuilds so I shall leave comments for those who are more qualified.

I wish you the best of luck on your repair and please keep us posted on your progress!

Cheers,
George
