It looks like you have some serious scratches and gouges, but the picture is quite poor.

Yah, that picture isn't all that great. It's blury, too close, and you need to show the rest of the housing as well.

From what I can tell, though it might just be the bad picture, I agree with Aaron it looks like you have some scratches/gouging there. Take some better pictures, though, so we can see for sure.

And for crying out loud!!! Take some better pictures. They are still blurry. Get them in focus first, or get/borrow a better camera.

it wouldn't let me put the new pics on the other one i had my G/f put them on here because my patience with computers is 0 also my sister is great with computers and shes right in the other room but shes too stuck up to help if you could tell me how to put them on the other one id be glad to do it

67,000 this motor was out of an 87 automatic i bought it for my sister for her first car, the guy i bought it from said "it won't start"so it ended up being flooded so i got it running and one day it just started skipping so i checked the compression and the front was good and the rear was shit

So I am assuming this is a pic of the rear rotor housing?

What was the compression on the rotors when you tested them?

Also...take the housing outside in natural light and take the pictures. It will help with the clarity so we can actually see the 'damage'.

i think it was 100 and 40 yes this is the rear housing.

Those last 3 don't look very promising. Are those gouges in them? Scrapes? Or what? If you run your fingernail over those marks does it catch? I'm talking about the horizontal markes (2) visible in the first 2 pictures.

ya my fingernail does catch on the smaller gouge they are gouges and little scrapes

If your fingernail catches I wouldn't use them, but that's my opinion, you can take others too.

they would PROB work but would be verrry bad idea.. each gouge or nice in it is gonna make you loose some compression.. and since you are going to rebuild the engine it STUPID not to pic up another housing thats is in better shape..

The housings in that last set of pictures are not usable. Those scratches and gouges look DEEP. They will catch the apex seal and likely chip it.

personally i belaive that, to some extent,virtical scrapes are ok but horizontal are bad. as long as you sand the edges of virtical scrapes down and they are not leading from on compression stage to the next, its alright. i've got 3"kinda deep" virtical scrapes in my rear housing and yet i hold 100.100,100 and 18 psi of t66.

Yea, Im going to ditch the rear housing, but Im going to use the front one. The front one has vertical scrapes but not bad at all. I also have an 88 GXL motor, computer, TII motor harness and computer, and I have 2 whole cars worth of parts upstairs in my barn. But my friend that drag races Mustangs wants to build an RX7 for street and strip, but also to bring to sevenstock. So we are going to build a crazy RX7 with all the shit I have. I dont want to cut up my 88 GTU so I wanna build a beater that looks nice. Just something to pound the Camaro's and HONDA'S with.

When I did my last rebuild my housing had a similar groove (not all the way around the housing, just for a bit of the bottom of the housing). I was told by a rotary mechanic they were fine to use, but to run 2-peice seals. Something about the mazda 3-peices corner seals just making the scratch deeper, but the wider peice on the 2-peice would even it out.

After the engine blew most recently (cracked the front iron at the dowel pin, made a nice oil spray) I tore the engine down to replace housings; and the grove had worn itself out within a couple hundred miles, and the apex seals are still well in tolerance. Using Atkins 2pc. seals BTW ~CE

I would NOT use those, it would NOT be a smart idea. They look to be in awful shape. If your gonna do somthing, so it right and get some GOOD low mileage or brand new housings.

Bad housings. Find better ones.
