These headlights any good?

Hey i am looking for a decent headlight replacement for the stock headlights. The other thread confused the hell out of me. Pretty much i would like to know Are these ebay ones any good?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/86-87...mZ220291616373

if possible are there any other reputable sites other than hidplanet.com and rallylights.com?

also, say i was going to buy the "Complete Bosch Xenon D2S HID Projector Package" would the only other thing i need are housings? and whats the difference between single xenon and bi-xenon (... is it something to do with either one bulb or 2 bulbs?)?

duo2999 10-09-08 09:36 PM

the price on the ebay lights make it seem questionable. either its a good deal, or its something else. i cant be sure though.

i can tell you that i did some research and bi xenon and high and low beams in one bulb, if i understand that correctly. and the single xenon lights would be just the low beams.

as for what website you should order from, i really have no idea. i have seen this website advertised before:

carkingsllc.com

but i dont know if they are reliable or not.

hopefully you can find something because i would like to get something to replace my stock headlights at some point.

dawicka2 10-10-08 02:37 AM

yup they are "good". I have those exact same lights in my s10 blazer and have had no issues at all.

I have those in my S4. I think there was a fitment issue with them... I remember having to grind off a little bit of material because it was bumping against something. Not bad for the price but there are better alternatives in the long run.

Sylvania Silverstar headlights are pretty bright

Texas_Ace 10-10-08 09:41 AM

Personally i got some silverstar's and love them, they are bright as snot and a great beam pattern. They cost less too, i just picked them up from pepboys.

Plus with silverstar's (the stock seeled beams version) you know they are DOT leagle and will be good.

As for HID, if you are going to do that then you will have to make a custom projector for the car. Putting a P&P kit in that housing + Cop = fine

Not to mention ticking everyone you drive by off.

RotorBalls 10-10-08 09:42 AM

Those look like your typical blue light specials. I'm not sure I'd buy those but it's your car

inbou 10-10-08 06:14 PM

do i need any modifcations to install the silverstar, or do the bolt right in?

SDrotary-FC 10-10-08 06:21 PM

l like the hella's or just some silverstars.

epic 10-10-08 07:45 PM

silverstar's from pepboys are better for my taste. but i would like the blue light. but i dont wana grind anything off 2 make them fit u know.

AsianImage 10-10-08 07:50 PM

I think the price tells you all you need. There are "Deals" and there are just plain trash....$6 for headlights? COME ON...

I would go HELLA or at least do the Silverstars.....

RX7xFD3S 10-10-08 07:54 PM

I think I'm the only one that caught this.

The damn shipping fee is 27 bucks and 8.25% added to Cali.

Yes, they are direct replacments tot he stock sealed beams. I am using them and they really are more then enough for 95% of drivers (of coures i plan on doing a proper HID conversion later but these work great for now).

You are not eh only one, i paid $25 each for my silverstars i think. much better deal IMO.

katkaroto 10-10-08 09:03 PM

ha i had a better deal! i made a best offer for a penny and got it. though shipping was like 19.99. i got the whole thing for 20 bucks! i thought it was a steal.

nightridaz777 10-10-08 10:25 PM

im thinkin' about getting some like this. but with the projector lens in the center instead.

Good advice. Or what you could do is get the Hella replacement housings and have a very WIDE selection of bulbs to choose from, Again, Rallylights.com is a great place to get everything you need and they are ridiculously knowledgable

The Hella H4 conversions bolt right in, then you can get the silverstar bulbs which will bolt into the Hella housings

Why? So you can piss alot of people off, see alot less, be more dangerous on the road and just perpetuate the rumor that all FC owners are epic fail ricers? :icon_no2:

Pics? More than likely some half assed chinese HID conversion that will piss alot of people off and be blatantly illegal

The housing he is tlking about it just a normal housing witha cheap projector lens in the middle. Does nothing really for the beam pattern, in some cases makes it worse. Though it is not HID, it just has a standard H4 bulb.

As for the hella, they are good housings for sure. Though they ARE pricy when you can get a pair of sealed beam silverstars for under $50. The beam pattern on them is great, better then i thought they would be and i am used to custom HID setups.

I loved my silverstars, one bulb burnt out prematurly though, I'm talkin like 3 months, it was still lit but only like 1/3rd as bright as the other :(

They have a very slight blue tint to them when viewed at a angle, straight ahead they look pure white.

This is actually a semi common problem with silverstars or any over-voltage bulb. and is the cars fualt not the bulbs.

The silver stars get their brightness and whiteness by esentually over powering a standard bulb (it is designed to handle the power though). the halagen effect also kicks in at this high voltage.

The problem is that these bulbs MUST be ran at full voltage to last. If they are ran at lower then 12 - 14 volts they start burning out, fast.

On old cars like ours it is normal for the wiring to not get full voltage to the bulbs. So that is why they will burn out faster. I have silverstars on all my cars that sdon't have HID, and without fail the cars that get full voltage tot he lights last a normal year or 2 and the ones that don't get full voltage don't last near as long.

Though now i have most of the rewired to fix these problems.

It could also be a bad bulb. try calling sylvaina.

gear_grinder 10-11-08 11:43 AM

those are not HID, just "blue" h4 bulbs.

you can buy a REAL HID conversion kit for almost any car for like $50 bucks on ebay + cost of the headlight glass (what ever those would be w/o bulbs).

example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-H...=p4506.c0.m245 + cost of glass.

Texas_Ace 10-11-08 11:49 AM

True, and blind everyone on the road and get a long line of tickets.

If you are going to do HID then do it right with a proper retrofit. those P&P kits are only good for things like off-road lights.

yeah, thank god i didnt buy anything yet. but i was thinking of getting those and a hid h4 kit. wouldnt that work?

Jross427 10-13-08 12:57 AM

i have the hella h4 conversions on my truck, and im runnin piaa 100/135 bulbs, and they are to say the least pretty bright. and the bulbs have a cut off on the lowbeam side so you arent blinding people as you go by its a pretty nice set up and worth the money. and i havent seen any wiring harness problems yet, ive been running the for about a year, so i think there pretty good

Osirus9 10-13-08 01:21 AM

I have Raybrig h4 housings on my FC. They look amazing on the car.

I can't remember what kind of bulb is in there, I think it's PIAA, but I could be wrong. Those things are ridiculously bright, and a little blue, but mostly white.

I personally love them, and they had 0 fitment issues.

Hypertek 10-13-08 01:34 AM

^ +1 i had those in my old s13, the Raybrigs with silverstar bulbs

*before you argue with me and say theres tons of glare, this is a bad pic*

they dont have a glare shield and are designed for the rhd market. But produced alot more visable light on the road.. far better then any ebay special that my friends have. Align your headlights properly and you will have no problems.

I think i got Hella in the fc
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...hase/hella.jpg
not nearly as nice of an output, but its street legal.
