testing fuel pressure on FD pump

Car is 172rwhp '88 GTU w/ 152k on the body and ~15k on the motor.

Ok so I may get some time to check the fuel pressure on my FD fuel pump (upgraded to FD pump b/c a friend gave it to me for free). My car has been leaning out up top despite SAFC correction and even upgraded injectors, so the next thing I'm going to check is the fuel pressure. As far as I know the FPR is original.

I know I have to tee off somewhere on the fuel rail (I bet the Haynes manual will mention where), and then check the pressure when the car is keyed on for two seconds to see if it falls off. What pressure would be in-spec for an FD pump? Is there anyway to even know? I mean the pump was designed for the FD fuel lines etc.

Should I ask this in the 3rd gen forum maybe?

3rd gen section might know the specs.

I am assuming you have also already checked the basics like a clogged fuel filter???

fuel filter was changed 3k miles ago

you could just pick up a fuel pressure gauge, and the barbed fitting for efi and there you go, that is if you wouldnt want to get an aftermarket FPR with a gauge port.

Tee a pressure gauge into the rubber hose immediately after the fuel filter. Static fuel pressure (engine not running) should be at least 36psi, since that's the stock spec. Any more than that is a bonus.
