Ten Grand = ???hp

Here's the deal...I'm searching for a turbo II, and once I find it, I presume I will have to either rebuild the engine or get a new one. If I were to get a new one, where would I find it? Also, I'm planning on throwing about $10k at the engine (suspension and body can wait). What sort of setup would you all recomend?

CosmicButtHairs 01-15-02 12:35 AM

T-04 Turbo, Greddy FIC, Greddy BOV, Greddy Profec A Boost Controller, Apex AFC, Extra Injectors with Fuel Pump, Street Port Engine, Apex exhaust, Tocikco Illumina coilover set.
Don't worry about the upgrading the exhaust, you want to be able to keep low boost levels and kick it up a notch with the boost controller

With that kind of $$ buy a 20b triple rotor engine for anywhere from $3,000-$4,000. After the rest of the drive train, and a few mods, $10,000 with that set-up will get you over 550 easy! Check out www.fc3s.org. They can always get 20b's for ya! Good luck!

CosmicButtHairs 01-15-02 12:39 AM

oh yeah
i think you'll be good for atleast 300 hp and maybe hit 400 hp if you can tune it.
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

CosmicButtHairs 01-15-02 12:40 AM

500 hps?!?!?1
siiiiiiick!
go with the 20b setup!

I know a guy who runs local SCCA Pro-Solo autocross in Super Street Modified using a 20b, and a Haltech. He's sitting at over 500 hp. Look around this forum for info on the 20 swap!

umm... 20b will run you WAY over 10k.

for 10k you could be pushing 400-450hp easy. basicly this setup
http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/adrian.htm

new ported engine, full to4 turbo (turbo, manifold, wastegate, custom oil and water lines), FMIC, BOV, haltech ek6, injectors, fuel pressure reg., fuel pump, custom 3-3.5" exhaust. big cone filter. then dyno tunning.

but you'd probably kill yourself. learn how to drive it stock first. that's hard enough for some people.

Where would I find a 20b? Also, the reference to the 20b w/ a haltech was boosted I assume. Do you know what turbo he was running with?

rico05 01-15-02 12:07 PM

Hell if I know. He was VERY fast is all I really know for sure, other than the haltech and 20b.

E6KT2 01-15-02 04:23 PM

I will be over 400hp once I have ten G's in my car and that includes the car!:)

böst 01-16-02 01:41 AM

So, can anyone tell me where I could find a 20b?

Scott 89t2 01-16-02 02:00 AM

LOL. you don't listen to well. you will run WAY over 10k, more like 20k and that is asuming you can do some work yourself. and you'll still have a used engine that might not last too long. this is not an easy job. there is a reason why there are only 5 or so FC's with running 20bs. and alot of unfinished "project 20b" cars.

tweaked 01-16-02 02:10 AM

I was looking air plane engines a while back and I saw a 6 rotor superchaged that made 900 horses! it wouldn't fit into an fc but it would be fun huh?

marlaman 09-11-02 06:08 PM

Just think next summer i get at least 20k to play with :-)

and that's on the LOW side :D i wil have a 20 b working. and yes i'm only 19. i'm going to be the biggest spoiled bitch in the world. But at least i'll earn it unlike getting everything handed to me on a silver platter like J O E D

haha just kidding Joe

This takes my vote, too.

If you are asking basic questions, then you don't have the skills for a $10K 20B conversion. This is very intensive, and requires a lot of tuning, welding, fabrication, and a whole lot of thinking. It would cost you about $35K to contract out the 20B conversion, which is over your stated budget. Stick with the 13B and single turbo for now, and move to the 20B later if you like.

Scott 89t2 09-11-02 10:25 PM

wow 8 months later LOL
