Tempurature Gauge always on overheating levels
 

I just got my RX last month.
Replaced the starter and clutch to get it working. Now I'm working on the temperature gauge and the oil pressure gauge.

The Temperature gauge always goes to the top and the oil pressure gauge doesn't move.

I looked in the haynes manual and found the oil pressure sensor. The wire came off of it. I'm going to price on tomorrow at a mazda dealership and see if autozone carries one.

As for the temperature gauge, I'm pretty much clueless.
The Haynes manual says nothing. A search for temperature gauges returns pretty much nothing on the forum, except for the fact that using anything but oem turns out bad more often then not.

Any help?

If the problem is that the wire fell off, why not just put it back on?

I'd try replacing the water temp sender first, then if that doesn't do it maybe it's the gauge.

I got the oil pressure sensor plugged back in.
Not even the dealership could tell me which sensor runs the temp sensor, but now I have a diagram of em all..

The car went back to not starting again though.

When I recently replaced the clutch I uncovered a wire that I'm not sure where it goes back on.
I found out it was a ground and grounded it to solve the problem, but I'm curious as to its original position.
Large wire with a yellow stripe on it. Next to the starter. Kind of short, can only reach the upper starter bolt at farthest.
Anyone know where thats suppose to go?

thats the battey ground u can just on the starter bolt thats were it needs to be

Yea thats the ground that goes with the stud bolt on the starter. The oil pressure sender and water temp sender are right under the oil filter next to each other. Maybe they were damaged during the trans removal?

EDIT: nevermind looks like you got it.

Dude..If you Replaced the Clutch,then you should have a Capacitor ON a wire that Runs From the clutch slave to the Firewall..if that is not there,then the Oil pressure gauge is not reading..it needs that Wire...IT LOOKS LIKE: a small Square piece of 'bakelite" with a Washer type connector,that you can put a Bolt through(that would go on ONE of the clutch slave bolts)..on the Other side of the wire is a female Spade Connector.

When I took off the slave cylinder there was no wire on it at all.
The oil pressure gauge works now that the sensor is plugged in.

I found the temperature sensor, but it looks like its going to be hard to get to.
I'll try tomorrow.
