temp guage adapter
Found the link to this site in another post. I was wondering if the temp guage adapter at the bottom right would be a decent alternative to tapping into the water pump for placement of a sending unit? I researched this topic before and it sounded like it might be better to have the sending unit after the thermostat. Would placing it in the radiator hose still provide a fairly accurate reading?

You should place the sender aft of the thermostat, as you won't get an accurate reading until the thermostat opens.

Since most of us aren't sailors, he's saying that the temp probe needs to be below the thermostat. If the thermostat fails, you will not get an accurate reading or warning when the engine overheats.

lol, I think you just have to be literate to know what aft means ;)
