TB Mod Question ( really simple one )

I hate to start another thread.. but...

What do you do with the vacuum(?) hoses that come off the TB after the TB Mod? I'm doing all of this with my engine out, so I can't just try 2 or 3 things. Any help appreciated.

I have the same question. I was hoping Ted would get on here and answer it. : )

Who needs Ted when you've got me? :D Short answer: the same thing you did before the TB mod.

Anyway, there are four lines on the back of the UIM, none of which are effected by the TB mod. The Haynes manual has a pretty good vacuum hose routing diagram that will tell you what goes where (i.e. one goes to the vacuum spider, another to the FPR solenoid, etc). Note that there are no actual nipples on the TB, so I've assumed that you just got a little mixed up :)

Ok if you're talking about the 3 or 4 nipples on each side of the TB, take the black spacer plate flip it around and it plugs all the holes except one, the bottom one on the left, if the thing was in the car the side closest to the firewall and the one on the very bottom.

DO NOT DO THAT!!! Not unless you've somehow miraculously eliminated your injector breather lines, your OMP, you fuel pressure regulator and your purge control valve. You NEED these lines. In fact, after I did my emissions removal, those 4 were the ONLY ones I needed.

Argh! Too many stupid posts! I'm going to bed.

My bad I forgot that I have all that shit removed. If you have all that shit removed then do that, but don't otherwise, sorry. My OMP is hooked to the one that is left open, and my FPR goes to the nipple on the lower intake. Sorry Brandon, didn't mean to upset you, GEEZ some of you guys are so anal. Simple mistake sounded like the guy had already removed all that shit, he asked how the plug them, so I told him.

I think I'll wait for TED or something

No7Yet 06-17-02 06:58 AM

LiqAn: Uh, whatever. Like I said, the TB mod doesn't effect what goes where, unless you've eliminated your emissions equipment. So "put it back to stock".

Hehehe, but I removed emissions equipment as well. Say bye bye to the ACV

blu_gxl 06-17-02 10:55 AM

the only ones that i had left open when done(could not go to stock locations), were the cold start vacume and i just used a cap to plug it.

No7Yet 06-17-02 12:40 PM

Then you need to cap the front 3 nipples, and run the two injector breathers to two of the back 4, run the MOP vacuum splitter to the larger of the back 4, and run the FPR line to the BOTTOM of the back 4. That's all you need.

Wait wait wait..

Are we talking about the vac lines on the TB itself? Or just behind it on the intake plenum (which is what Brandon is talking about).. The TB vac lines should go to an actuator for the 2nd set of plates, which gets removed with the TB mod, and therefore, the actuator goes away, along with the vac lines..

Now if you really were talking about the intake plenum, Brandon is 100% correct, the TB mod did not affect that routing at all. So if all the emissions stuff is gone, cap it.
