Sad and true. My frustration was that my rebuild on a 2k break in engine should have been a simple teardown and rubber seal replacement...which then turned into. Opps, I need a new exhaust manifold. Oopps I need a new flywheel. Oopps I need a new front cover...etc etc.

It's all better in the long run to do it now, I simply made the incredible error in thinking I had covered all the "unexpected" expenses with the previous rebuild

You could designate OFF as a "speed".

A single speed fan will have two wires, a two speed will have three.

Hmmm. So will I be fine with my fiero fan? My car is s4 Turbo.

I want everything working real nice on my setup, something I can trust for a while.

let me go measure it.....
I installed this using a 40A relay and an autozone Torqflo temp switch(part # 733653)... simple amazing air flow!!!!
kicks on hard using the HI speed wire and cools the car down insanely fast.
For kicks and giggles i unplugged the fan from the 12v let the temp rise to 3/4 of the way up on the gauge it too 32 seconds to kick the temp back down to 1/5 of the way up from COLD....super happy with this JUNKYARD SPECIAL! best 38 dollars spent. STELLAR MOD.

That is not the optimal way to arrange the fan.
Have you tried using just low speed?

I wanted to have the low speed on with the ignition switch and have the high come on with the thermo switch but i felt like it would take from the starter if I wired low at all times. I followed Aaron cakes write up on efans using the thermo switch and relay, works fine. How did u run yours?

Starting direct in HIGH causes quite a spike of inrush voltage compared to starting in LOW.
My fan is wired for LOW to activate first.

Just switch the fan wire and run it on LOW speed, see what happens.

I dont know if this will help you guys out, but a bout 6 months ago i was collecting parts for this same fan set up, and one of the members, jeff or clokk helped me out....This was my elementary school drawing of what i had planned as far as wiring went. Using the volvo relay for low speed and toggling high speed if needed.
