Tail lights are out... need help!

so my light swtich burned up again... but I rans wires to the headlight relay and wired the remaining lights in... it's been like this for a year now... the other night my head lights dimmed and I pulled over and reached for the swtich to turn them off and it was like red hot.

Today i checked the fuses and they were good... and I traced the problem to the taillight wire in the head light swtich... when cut the head lights work fine and do not get hot.

also my turn signals recently stopped working and I replaced a burned fuse and they worked for a day and stopped but the fuse isn't blown

I'm assuming it's my CPU but any help would be great...

thanks

-Ty

The turn signals are probably the CPU, or bad fuse and or bulb, however (as covered in the FAQ for FC at the top of this section) the parking lights are probably a bad headlight switch.

It is common to have the parking light or dash lights section of the headlight switch burn out at the connectors if the bulbs have not been maintained at the sockets and have corrosion, or extra lights such as fog lights or extra wattage bulbs have been improperly wired in.

Once the head lights switch fails, it and the head light dash harness must be replaced with good condition ones. Re-using either pretty much guaranties that the same problem will happen again.

I do have both rebuilt CPU's and Turn signal boards on my website now, as well as will have used good headlight switches available in the next week.

Too bad Ty can't read the FAQ for FC at the top of this section were he would have found at least half his answers.

Anyways, if u keep replacing a fuse when you have a bad ground, youre going to blow something else besides the fuse. Your light switch might actually be blown. This happened to me. I had a bad ground (which i found later) that kept causing my ILUM fuse to blow, resulting in no tail lights and no turn signals. I kept replacing the fuse like an idiot without fixing the ground, and it blew my switch.
hope this helpz0r

Nice. Due to my lack of soldering skills, I'll be picking one of those up soon.
