t2 swap no plug for altenator
 

i did the t2 swap with a 88 gtu, now i have found out that there is no where for you to hook up the two wire plug that goes in back of the altenator, does anybody know where i can hook up the two wires, one looks like it could go to the main relay and the other inside the cockpit to the ecu, but does anybody know the wires to splice into. and if i did not hook it up what kind of problems would this cause.

Unless I'm misunderstanding here, it sounds like the plug isn't on the harness side of things? If you had an engine in it before, then I can garauntee the plug was there, so it should be there somewhere. If there's wires without the male connector, then you should be able to splice a connector onto the end of the wires with no prob. as far as leaving it disconnected, then your alternator would do nothing to charge the car, so it's pretty much start, run and die, killing your battery in the process. You've gotta have the alternator plugged in, so I'd say find a wiring diagram (via hayne's manual or online), and if you can't find the stock harness plug, then rig one up and make sure it's run to the right wires. good luck with that, and sorry I can't help much, but I really hate electricity, so I try to stay away from those kind of problems :D

The alternator will work fine without that connection. But it should be there nontheless.

I did the TII swap and had the same problem. I got ahold of the wiring diagram and then added in the wires. They connect it at the CPU which is right above the drivers kick panel.

hey oversteer can you remember which wires you spliced into.

aaron, how does it work without that connection? If I'm talking about the same plug, it's the one that goes to the back of the alternator with two wires, correct? Other than that, it's just the grounding wire that gets connected. If the plug isn't in the back, how does the alternator output any voltage? Not saying you're wrong, but like i said, i hate everything electrical, so i don't really know how else it would work
