t2 rebuild...which ports should i go with?

hey, im doing a t2 rebuild..and wanted to get some ported housings...wondering if these housings that i found on here, are decent, and will flow good. I have never ported a rotary engine, and need some advise.

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=477206

The engine is an s4 t2.. bassically i will have all the mods to back up these ports, but i want to know if they look decent..any advise would be appreciated!

i can tell you that is a fucking huge exhaust port compared to the stock one.

teggyforlife 10-31-05 09:42 PM

lol...anything more then... fuckin huge ex. port.? was the port done right?

Carzy Driver 10-31-05 09:43 PM

the exhaust port looks great but there is no pics of the intake but for the price, go for it

eriksseven 10-31-05 09:47 PM

I dunno man, lol. Those are HUGE exhaust ports. Like, you'd need a pretty massive turbo, as well as an unusually high-revving TII, to take advantage of a port that size...

adrock3217 10-31-05 09:48 PM

If you don't know if it will flow good, how do you know you have all the mods to back it up?

You're saying you have..

Standalone EMS?
Extreme fuel injectors?
A turbo big enough to even TOUCH being able to use those ports?

I don't believe it. If you don't know if these flow well, then I am 99% POSITIVE you do NOT have these mods.

teggyforlife 10-31-05 09:51 PM

when i say id have the supporting mods...mean's ill buy what i have to.. if i wanted 300-350whp, are these ports way to big?

Dom_C 10-31-05 09:53 PM

He will have the fuel system and he will have standalone, and he will have at minimum 3 inch exhaust. . He has never ported a rotory before that is why is is asking how these ports look .. don't be a deuch bag

ddub 10-31-05 10:49 PM

Very large.

1. There is no bevel on the port, in stock form there is a 2mm bevel on the port to help with the transition for the apex seals. Without this it'll cause faster wear, if you get these housings you should add it.

2. It no longer has sleeves. Expect to have an increase in coolant temperatures because of this. The sleeves help with heat transfer but without them the coolant flow with be heated up more.

3. Very large and very wide, not sure who did the porting but it's hard to say what kind of support the apex seals would have with those.

I wouldn't buy them.

rotarygod 10-31-05 10:55 PM

^ Agreed. That port is going to swallow up an apex seal. Not enough support. Way too large anyways. Definitely not a streetable port even if it didn't kill apex seals. Pass on those. Whoever ported those doesn't know what they are doing.

eriksseven 10-31-05 11:27 PM

I've seen whose floating around for a while... I think Atkins supposedly did the porting

jacobcartmill 11-01-05 01:00 AM

dont buy those housings. the apex seals are going to see ALOT of stress whenever those housings actually make it into a motor...

adrock3217 11-01-05 02:01 PM

bah. From the way he was asking, it didn't seem like he noticed how much would need to be put in to run these housings...including multiple rebuilds for the lack of a bevel..

You could make that power on stock ports, ya know.

teggyforlife 11-01-05 02:31 PM

lol..thanks..i know i dont KNOW much about rotarys (moving here from Hondas!) and i appreciate all of your feedback.. I have a buddy whos familar with all this stuff, and hes on the board...ill take some pics when i start to get work done to the 7. Who thinks i should just stay stock ports? or say fuck it and get the motor ported..im only looking for 300-400 at the max...

ddub 11-01-05 02:50 PM

It's easier to get to 300-400 with a ported engine, but yes it can be done stock port. Stock port it'll just be harder and more expensive, USUALLY, depending on your resources available.

I'd say give it a good, efficient port. Nothing like those housings have.

Second the motion, :bigthumb:

teggyforlife 11-01-05 05:07 PM

thanks guys! Any idea what turbo would produce lets say 300-400whp

jacobcartmill 11-01-05 05:10 PM

t04b 60-1

teggyforlife 11-01-05 07:15 PM

haha thanks...hows the range of power? is it real laggy?

slpin 11-01-05 07:20 PM

wtf? you dont need 60-1 for 300rwhp

a 57 trim T04 can do that and it will lag as much as stock....

and please dont tell me your buddy is iceblue..... he doesnt have that great of a rep around here...

Dom_C 11-01-05 09:20 PM

I'm his buddy, no joke. Is iceblue from maine?
