T2 pop at 3500rpm

I got my car started the other day the engine is a 88 T2 engine. I reved it to 3500 there was a loud pop and it died. It started up again but still dont know what it was if i rev it slow it still pops but not like the other one. Reving is done in neutral havent driven it yet.

Does it do it when the car is fully warmed up too?

fcturbo2 11-12-03 08:50 PM

timing maybe.

MrFuzzy 11-13-03 10:15 AM

yeah when its warmed up it does it to, I thought it might be after burn but it doesnt sound like its in the exaust, I changed the boost presure sensor and still did it. Could I be overboosting from faulty wiring?

Rotory 11-13-03 12:29 PM

not in neutral...im pretty sure u can only build boost with a load on the motor

J-Rat 11-13-03 12:41 PM

I can build boost in neutral. About 7 PSI.

Yeah you can make boost in neutral but i dont think its enough to blow the engine. I dont want to drive it tell i figure out what it was so i dont blow it.

Ni5mo180SX 11-13-03 04:37 PM

Have you done compression yet?

MrFuzzy 11-14-03 01:08 PM
