Are T2 and N/A Harness different as well as JDM vs. USDM?

I bought a S5 T2 ECU and Harness of this guy. The ECU is T2, and as far as the harness I believe it is not. As far as I know, T2 and N/A Harnesses are backward to each other as far as the line up of the connectors. I know that a N/A harnes has the same plugs, but they wrap around the engine differently which causes the Harness to be stung backwards to each other. Now he says the the problem is that a USDM harness is different to a JDM Harness which is what the problem is. I believe he is misinformed, but I want advise from others who have done this and understand the harness and ecu differences before I state a complaint. Please...as many people as possible, let me know what knowledge and experience you have on the situation. Need to know ASAP so I can complain to paypal if necassary. -Blake

they are different

Go to the series five FUEL AND EMISSIONS sections. There is a page F1-7 for Non Turbo and page F2-7 for Turbo.

Those pages show the elect plugs for the vacuum rack/solenoids.

The non turbo has a White, Brown, Gray, Orange, Blue plugs for the solenoids.

Thje Turbo has a Gray, Orange, Blue connectors NOT COUNTING THE DUTY SOLENOIDS PLUG THAT ATTACHES TO THE OIL FILLER NECK.

So. If your harness has a BROWN colored elect plug for a solenoid, it's a non turbo EM harness.

That's if it's a USA harness. I know nothing about JDM harness other than if I ever did see one I'd be able in moments to tell that it was

Yup, they are different???? Do you mean JDM vs. USDM? Or N/A vs Turbo? As far as the colored connectors, does that apply to S4 and S5? I didn't see a Brown one on my S4 N/A, and I didn't see it on the S5 Supposed to be Turbo Harness as well. Are the JDM Harness Backwards compared to the USDM? Or are the USDM Turbo's Backwards to the USDM N/A? These questions will help me more, but I will try to find that page you mentioned. Thanks for the resonses, but I am still lost.

Oh Yeah, he told me that a N/A harness couldn't fit into the Turbo ECU. I pluged my S4 N/A into an Extra S4 T2 ECU and it fit. Does that apply to S5, meaning Does the S5 N/A not fit into a S5 Turbo ECU? Also, 2 Injector Plugs were cut, so how can I see what color they were?

All ECU's of the same series are physically identical. Only the programming inside is different.

I thought they were the ame. But I still need to know if the T2 vs. N/A wire harnesses are wired backwards. If that is true, it will help save anymore debate. Or if there is any other way to tell if I was ripped off.

Wired backwards? Not exactly sure what you mean, but no...

The NA and harnesses are very similar. Think about it, most of the things connected to the harness are in the same place whether the engine's NA or Turbo. ECU, main relay, injectors, solenoid valves, AFM, air and coolant temp sensors, etc. The only component that's in a totally different place is the BAC valve.

Thank you for a more detailed response and explination. So, If I have a JDM T2Engine and I get a USDM T2 Harness for it, It should match up about 90% of it? I will just need to extend a wire and or replace a connector or 2?

It will match fine. Everything electrical on a J-spec engine is in the same place an a US-spec one (in fact the whole engine's are almost identical). You'll have a few spare connectors on the harness because the J-spec engines are missing a few emissions devices US ones have.

Alternator wiring is contained within the non-turbo main engine harness.
On a turbo, the alternator wiring is on the driver's side power harness.

You'll be missing some of those emissions wires on the JDM harness called Wiper wires.

YOU asked in your first post whether you had a non turbo harness or a turbo harness. I gave you the colors of the plugs that go on a non turbo harness and the colors for a turbo harnesses plugs (plugs for the solenoids on the vacuum rack). From that you should have been able to tell if you have a turbo or non turbo EM harness.
