T2 engine, the rest NA
I know that the NA drive train is only good for about 250hp MAX. But Im afraid my engine with 157k on it is on its last leg. I want more power like the rest of us. But I am not looking to make a monster since I want to keep it a daily driver. Im gonna get a T2 or an FD for a weekend racer later. What kinda problems and pieces will I need to mix and match with to make this work. Or did I get given something not quite legal at my last party with out my knowledge????
Anyone with some good knowledge like Ted, Brad, anyothers $.02 is welcome to chime in on this. |
the NA drivetrain is not as fragile as some people think. There are a lot of miatas pushing 300-350+ HP on the stock tranny and rear end.
|
OK if its not as fragile as I was lead to believe then what can a NA drive train take?
|
The N/A tranny can only hold 230 hp @ flywheel. Get the whole drivetrain like me.:p

I have TII engine with NA tranny
(Must change flywheel and front counterwieght to use NA tranny) I ran it good with stock clutch as soon as I put in a Heavy Duty clutch I blew 2 trannys in less then a week Time for a TII tranny for me You can use a TII tranny with a auto driveshaft and it will bolt to the NA rear... |

Originally posted by PaulC Does that actually work? Has anyone actually tried it? Paul, You got all the TII stuff right? I'll help ya swap the drivetrain out any time- you can do that BEFORE you do the motor if you want. Got a place to do it right? Or do we have to wait until I move in to the new place to have a garage? Brad |
Thanks Brad,
I did have a T2 and tranny but I was offered twice what I paid for it one night out at Kenedale. So Im actually back to looking again for another engine. But I do have a place to do it but I think the driveway would be way too steep. but Im hopefully gonna start lookig for a place after the first assuming I can find a permanate position again. I hate contract work. |
the na and TII rear are diffrent
size wise hmm maybe I have it wrong it could be you can use auto drive shaft on na trany with TII diff since the TII diff is longer then the na one |
