T2 conversion?
will a 87 T2 engine fit into my 91 n/a without any major modifications?
|
Simple answer no.
You will need to get the turbo electronics. Series 4 electronics are different from Series 5 so you will need to get a S5 harness. Also Series 4 engines are mechanical oil metering pumps so you either need to convert usuing a S4 Throttle body or switch the front cover to electrical OMP |
im talking about full engine drop with all the necessaries, my engine gone, and a full 87 T2 engine in, any way to make it work?

Read the FAQ. This has been covered heavily. Sorry to be curt but seriously, this has been covered a million times before. Short answer :: yes it fits. Long answer: there are many caveats. Search for the details, and visit http://www.rotaryresurrection.com and http://www.fc3spro.com for some solid info too.

www.rotaryresurrection.com has a write up on series conversions.
Read that and then read the turbo conversion. The Series 5 electronics are supposed to be pug and play so you would need S5 electronics. S5 TII ECU S5 EFI harness S5 Fuel Injectors S5 BAC S5 AFM TII atmo/Boost sensor TII Fuel Pump Then you can either go... Keep S4 Throttle body and Mechanical OMP BUT add on the Series 5 Dual TPS(Not sure if it will fit) OR Switch front covers so you have a S5 front cover and electronic OMP Also this is only for swapping the engine. Not including the transmission which will need.... TII Clutch Slave cylinder TII Tranny TII Tranny Cross member TII Drive shaft TII rearend. an optional way is use the Mazdatrix hybrid driveshaft and use the TII tranny with your stock NA rearend.(I'll tell ya when I blow mine how long it lasted as a TII) |
