t II project-help needed
Hi,
After a lot of searching-fate has given me wht i wanted.....a turbo project.......I have a couple thousand questions of which here are a few 1) The stock turbo and clutch? how much boost and HP can i run safely on each of them?.... 2) this ones kinda stupid but ill ask it anyways----in order to reduce turbo lag? lets say at a traffic light launch,,,,,wont it be sensible to run a 50 shot of wet nitrous till about the time the boost starts kicking in and then shut the Nitrous off? 3) I dont have any emissions laws in my state...NE.....so i can use a racing pipe=-====advice ona COMPLETE exhaust setup which sounds badass but not rice would appreciated.Prices and links too 4) Also will i experiencer fuel cut with an air intake and exhaust? what would u ppl recommend? a haltech or upgraded fuel pump with larger injectors along with an FCD and AFC?. 5) i was looking at the 99 front bumper for the FC's--looks badass...any opinions on how it would look with the fresh air light scoop ?---would tht look better or a head light conversion?. 6) Lets say some1 has larger tires in the back--do they keep rotating the back tires at the back since they cant rotate all the tires equally?--i know DUMB question but i was curious......my logic says different rotation patterns....... 7) Im possibly looking for 300 at the ground--tht ialongwith making it very reliable and not uncompromisingly bad on fuel----would like advice on ppl with HP's in the 250+ region to tell me there mileage and opinions |
Geez, that's some questions! :)
A few answers for you - First off, the stock turbo is good to about 250 to the ground. It's really hard to say when the stock clutch will need to be upgraded - it depends on how old the clutch is, what brand, a number of things. You really don't need NOS to "start spooling" - this is a *stock* turbo - you have boost damn near instantly. Start slow with the car - get accustomed to it as-is, and spend some time and money fixing things. Get decent tires if it doesn't have 'em - that will make a BIG difference. Consider getting shocks and springs. For power, start with just a cone intake - cheap, very easy to install, and makes a BIG difference. Get a good boost gauge before starting in on exhaust, too. Anyhow, that should get you started :) Dale |
