suspension restoration help

I just recieved my TEIN s-tech springs from the ups man today. I am currently saving up for struts, one more paycheck or so. What else can i expect to find that needs replacement on an old tired base model in the suspension area. I allready have springs and a front strut brace.

I know there has bound to be something. When i replaced my brake rotors it was like opening a can of worms. I had to get rebuilt calipers, new master and slave cylenders, and wheel bearings. I expect as much when i replace my struts and springs.

Also when i take a right hand turn at speeds of 50+, I get a terrible shaking in the wheel. Feels liek its comeing from the driver side front. Only shakes at a certain turn angle. If i turn more, the shaking stops. If i turn less the shaking stops. Any ideas gurus.

Thank you :bigthumb:

ball joints may be the problem for your shaking, may be a tire out of shape, tweaked wheel. go get an alignment done and see if that helps. As for restoring, you could replace all the stock rubber bushings out with urethane ones as they have probably degraded alot over the years, it will take some of the unwanted play out of youir suspension caused by the aged stock rubber bushings

bushings, sway bars, strut bars, springs, struts, tires and car lightening. Camber plates as well if ur doing profesional racing.

I had that same sorta problem, it went away after I took my car to less schwab, so prolly just need an alignment.

ah no shit. I really hope its just alignment.

**ON A SIDE NOTE**

With my new suspension upgrades, i cant see running pulled power steering anymore, i mean its not a drag car at all. If anyone has a working power steering pump and bracket and anythign else i need besides a belt shoot me a pm.

Chances are that bad shaking you have is your lower balljoint. I had to do mine because of that same problem. They are a very common wear item on s4.

Suspension Stuff

Well..I suppose I'll give RETed some more customers on his site...

the best site if seen about how to set up your suspension is www.fc3spro.com ran by RETed. He's awesome and totally full of info. Read his site about mild to wild on suspension.

one more point....if it is the ball joint, and it is bad enough to cause noticable shaking, the it is DANGEROUS and you need to relplace it very soon. super worn ball joints can pop out when you hit a bump, causing your wheel to fold over sideways. this is very scary and very bad.
