Sunroof is stuck, any ideas?
 

Anybody got any ideas on how to get the damn sunroof to open? It's stuck and i just hear the thing winding away but not opening, any ideas/suggestions/tricks/voodoo to fix it?

If its the same sunroof like mine, and you have the same issue like me, then the fix is quite simple: when opening the roof, gently press the center rear part of the sunroof, in order to "help" it pull up. When closing, you have to "help" it slide into the opening, by "pulling" it by applying a bit of pressure to the same spot as when opening. Dont know if you understood that, but its really quite simple....

ok I'll give it a push tommarow and see if it moves at all, any other ideas incase that doesn't work?

Yeah, get a good used one from the junk yard. Your cable might have snapped. Mine broke in Oct. I just fixed mine. =)

If it moves still, clean the shit out of the tracks and replace the motor.

Is it difficult to change the cable? I'm imaninging you need to take down the entire headliner...

Replace everything. Rip it apart. 1st, find the broken pieces, call your dealer for replacement parts, then you will say HOLY FUCK!!!

If you call a junk yard, It is MUCH CHEAPER!!! Ask them for a sunroof for a second gen rx7. :p: All sunroofs are interchangeable. Or go to a pick your part or something of the kind and grab one. It is a tedious job. yes. WD40 is not a lubricant. Use some type of teflon lubrication spray for the tracks. 3M is good. I hated doing my roof.

Well, I know better than to goto a dealer (god help those that aren't) But I also lack a junkyard within 100 miles of here with more than 1 RX7 in it (I guess not many Upper Michigan RX7's huh?) I'll hope it'll be something simple like a broken cord as you say, and I can have it fixed in a day, otherwise, it's going to stay stuck for a while!

Take it apart. find the problem. Your car might be out of comission for a couple of days while doing this. At worse case, call a california junk jard. they are full of RX7s.

If you'll look at my earlier post (My baby!! (89 GXL)) You'll see that my car will be out of commision for quite some time now, it is lacking a transmission and an engine (working on it!) So I figured i'll fix the minor things until my engine comes
