Suggestions for a custom split air pipe. For Emissions.

Well I will need to get my car ready to pass emissions soon so I'm gonna need some help from you guys . The prevous owner removed pretty much all emissions from the car (88 TII).

Lets start off with what I have first off. I got a high flow cat welded onto my 3" exhaust with a hole to hook up with an air pump. Unfortunatly the shop I took it too welded the hole shut. Not only that but I dont think it would have been lined up right for the stock spilt air pipe to hook up with anyway. This is my fault because I didnt think of to tell the guys that before they worked on it so ah well.

So anyways how should I connect the air pump to the cat? I dont have a split air pipe either so I dont really know where it installs from.

Another question is I have an Airpump but it isnt hooked up yet because I have dual alternator pullys. Will the stock air pump belt fit this?

Well, you cat will be dying soon if there is no SAP hooked up. Do you have the ACV?

If all you have is the airpump then you can try to hook it directly to the cat via a custom SAP but I don't know if that will work. Also, if you have dual pulleys and they are standard sized than the stock belt should fit. If not, just buy a few belts and then return the ones that don't fit.

I've considered hooking up the air pump directly to the cat, but I've been told that will kill the cat VERY quickly. Much quicker than if it had no air pipe at all.

I have yet to determine why... i imagine its because there would be unburnt fuel dumped into the the cat, and the introduction of air would ignite the mixture and burn the cat.

you'll have to remove the 2nd belt on the alt. install the air pump, and get a new air pump belt.

cut off the weld I guess on the cat. so the pipe is showing. hopefully they didn't cut the pipe off. and just welded the end shut.

you'll need to run a pipe from air pump to cat. this will be tricky as the cat pipe is super hot. my friend tryed heater hose and it lasted about 2 mins before it melted off the cat. you're gona have to find some high temp silicon tubing or something.

just don't leave the pump hooked up to the cat for more then a day or 2. or you will kill the cat.

no it won't.

Unfortunetly they did cut the pipe off and then welded it. So I dont really know what else to do other then maybe drill a hole on there and maybe weld another little pipe on there. However I dont have a welder, but I could take it somewhere its just a pain in the ass.

Oh and I think the ACV is still on there if its what I think it is. Maybe someone could post a pic of one.
