subs in vert? what did you do?

I have a 90 vert that I would like to put a subwoofer or two in. I just want a couple 8's maybe. But I was wondering, have you all had any luck with subs in the vert? Am I just wasting my time, or can they sound decent and not take up any room? I was considering just putting them inside of the 'spare tire enclosure', facing the front of the car right behind the seats, with holes cut into the 'spare tire enclosure' so that you could see them with the wind blocker up, or hide them with it down. Have any of you done this? What do you recommend? I might just throw an 8" bazooka under there and call it a day.

I had a custom 8" enclosure built for mine. It fit perfect and was fairly lightweight (about 30lb loaded) but didnt produce a whole lot of sound. When my amp blew, I took it back out, didn't want to buy another amp, and it now sits in my garage. IF you are interested, I'd sell it cheap. It has a brand new audiobahn DVC 8" sub in it...it is black carpeted, and will fit behind the drivers seat with no mods other than relocating the headrest amp.

if he doesn't wanted i'll buy it..any pics?

I've got none now, but it's over at the shop...I can get some later, i guess. It's just about 12x12x8, with a single 8" sub, black carpeted. It's built with some funky angles so it fits well in the rear area under teh spare. It cost me over $125 to get built...it is well made by a pro shop...I just didn't feel like getting another amp to run it, and said screw it. It didn't rock the house or anything, it was mainly for midbass.

Is thr result of power a result of the amp, sub, or box design.

Say what now?

IF you're asking what impact an amp, sub, and box respectively have on sound, well that is all debateable.

Smaller boxes produce higher less boom in most cases, and more bump/midbass. Smaller subs are more for midbass, and bigger subs more for SPL.

IF running a sealed box, more power is required than if running a vented box.

FWIW, this box is sealed, and is the proper internal volume for the sub I bought for it.

I bet that sounds pretty decent.

I wanted to keep my spare and the carpet/cover stock appearing. I am not monster garage ;)

It sounded really good. The stock cover fit over it, it looked stock. The spare fit fine in the trunk. I will do the same thing if I get another vert.

I was building a custom fiberglass tuned enclosure for the FC3C and had the molds all made and done.

But when I tired to sell them at $250 each (which was like my cost plus 10%) + shipping no one wanted them so I stopped building them.

I'll see if I can find some pictures later and post what I did.
