Sturdiness of custom exhuast?

I'm thinking of replacing everything headers back on my car with a custom built system running some Dynomax Turbo mufflers. I'm just wondering about the reliability of mild steel. How long will this stuff last, especially on salty winter roads? Is it any less durable than the stock exhuast system?

And how loud does the car get with this setup? I am not looking for a ground-bound F16.

Oh, one more question: with a greddy intake, 5th&6th ports tied open and a full 2.5inch exhuast (no converters) what kind of HP will I be running on a 88SE that has 30,000 miles?

You can always get a picture of the N1 or similar exhaust and have a machine shop copy the bends in the pipe.

So long as you have a main catalytic converter & exhausts with some muffling the sound will be acceptible. My HKS has a nice deep throaty sound at lower rpms and a nice "distinct zzzzz" at higher RPMS.

The glasspacks have a nice deep (I got power) rumble to them but get pretty raspy at higher RPMS.

I was thinking of doing the same exhaust. 2 1/2" tubing to 2 Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers. Anyone have this on their 7?
