Stupid ALARMS!!!
 
So another rx7 electrical bug is gettin me...So this car has the stock alarm, and a "aftermarket ol school alarm" (doesnt have a remote ect) ...The aftermarket alarm was said to not work cuz it needed a fuse so im ruling that one out, I think its the stock alarm because it does the wait 10 seconds.....BEEP..... AFter it arms itself if i insert key and unlock either passenger or driver door alarm goes off and i have to yank my battery wires to shut it up. Trying to figure this out cuz i live in apartments and wake work at 5 AM so all my neighbors are hating me...I made sure all connections were on good and tight, I was looking at the fuse box by your feet to see if there is anything i could yank out to disable it. Does anyone know? thanks!

S4 and S5 alarms wire different and are at different locations for troubleshooting

No bumps - read the stickies.

99.44% of the time it's dumbass installers who fuck up the stock electrical wiring when doing alarm installs.

weird thing is that , ive had this car 2 months and no weird problems like this...and worse part if that is the case is i dont know who installed it or what "alarm" is even on there. there is no label.

Same thing happened to me a few days ago. Do your 4 ways flash and the car's horn beeps? Try unlocking the hatch using the key the next time it goes off. Shut right off for me.

unlcoking the hatch turned it off??? WTF lol. yea headlights pop up and blinkie lights. thats what makes me think its the stock alarm. b4 u tried the hatch with your key , did your idiot lights say your hatch was open or ne thing?

The S5 factory system is built into the CPU, so there is not a simple disconnect for it.

Turning the key in the door or hatch to the unlock position should disarm the factory alarm. If it does not, then the key switch in the door is disconnected or missing.

However, unlocking the door from the inside latch that is part of the inside door release will trigger the factory alarm. It needs to be disarmed from the factory key switch.

You can check the key switch wires, by looking at the harnesses coming in fro either door. The green/black wire should go to ground when the key is turned to the unlock position. And either be open or have voltage on it, when the key is not in the unlock position.

If its not plugged in to say the drivers side would it have any effect if i were to open from the passenger? it goes of no matter what side of the car i open it from

What could cause the alarm to die?

Sorta offtopic (Not asking for help my alarm doesn't go off) I've noticed that the light randomly blinks, it was over summer when I noticed but I don't think my alarm works at all, I picked the lock the other day when I locked the keys in, the alarm should arm when the door is locked on the inside I remember when I was a kid (Car has been in my family :)) I locked myself in and unlocked and the alarm went off.

Would the alarm just randomly die or maybe some possible way to kill it that happened to my car?

The S5 electronics are a bit more twitching than the S4 electronics, so generally if a S5 alarm dies it is related to cold solder joints in the CPU.

ON the S4 systems, it is usually a blown or missing room fuse, radio fuse or the brain is unplugged.

are you saying that your door harnesses are not plugged into the dash harness?

Man that makes alot of sense, would warm weather affect the cold solder joints (Not saying cause their called "cold solder joints" lol) in summer I was living in socal very hot days, the cars always been up here in norcal for most of its life and currently and the alarm hasn't gone off since I can remember

no im not saying that. MY car just got painted by a forum member. he had to take the doors panels off im sure to spray inside of the doors. there is a connector to the door handle right? for the alarm to work ? so if ...say my driver door handle is connected for the cpu to recognize that im actually opening my door with a key, if i went to the other side of the car and unlocked from that side. i shouldnt have a problem right? .....wait.....that makes no sense.....IF i lock my doors and the alarm turns on , the car knows that ive locked my doors and that means the part to the door handle would have to be plugged in right?

Ok nice and sunny day here in WA! So i took off the door panels to see if by some chance something didnt get hooked up when the door handles were taken off and sprayed. Well everything was plugged in. I tried the trunk trick , and didnt work lol it set off the alarm. Now im puzzled.

No... there are two sets of wires for the factory alarms.

Lock/Arm set which is plugged into latch switch on the inside of the door at the interior lock/unlock.

And the Disarm set which are connected to the Key switch on the exterior door handle and key (as well as at the trunk).

The two sets are unrelated and do not do the same thing at all.

Once works from the interior latch, one works from the key switch.

Now you still have not said what model... But on most S5 models the door handle has 4 wires coming off of it. Two wires for the key Cyl light and two wires for the key unlock/disarm switch.

Are you sure that they key cyl wires are hooked up (since it sounds like you are unwilling to test the wire as I told you how earlier in this thread).

The fact that the trunk does not disarm the alarm, suggests that the door handle wires (specificly the door key switch wires) are not hooked up and may be dangling, therefore you are unable to disarm the factory alarm.

Since the factory alarm does arm, it does tell us that the door latch switch (don't confuse this with the door key switch) is hooked up and working.
