Stripped subframe Diff mount stud
 

Im not sure when it happened but its gotten bad. One of the diff mount chassis studs is stripped. Any idea for a solution? I cant think of much options. Thats like the most feared thing to happen to the rear end imo. Im in no immediate need to drive the car but im also unemployed so funds to get some cutting and welding done is pretty short.

If you can figure out what the thread size and pitch are (I think it's M10 x 1.25, double check though) you can try to save the threads by chasing a die over the stud.

If they're too far gone, the safest solution would be to grind out the welds holding that stud on (they go in through the top), and welding in a replacement donor you can cut out of the junkyard.

The next safest solution would be to whittle down the stud and run a smaller die over it, then use the appropriate nut. I haven't tried this so take it with a grain of salt.

My first FC had this issue (front diff mount nuts and rear diff mount nuts are NOT the same) - ended up stripping one of the studs part way, but saved the rest using a die.

My buddy does have a shell he is selling but he said he would part it out , i could try to get that stud from it, I just dont have a air chisel like the guy in that post has so Im a little stumped on that, and no access to reweld.

I might just try going over it with a die and a different nut as a temp fix.

I think i can rethread it. Johnson do you think it could be m12x1? I bought a cheap harborfreight set and it didnt have the right size. Im thinking M12x1 or M14x1 ?
