Stripped bolts
One of the bolts that attaches the PS/AC rack to the housings is completly destroyed and I can't get ahold of it at all.
It's really hard to get to and I don't think I could fit a sawzall in there. Any suggestions? |
Nut or bolt? If it is a nut, use a nutsplitter. If it is a bolt, good luck. Try banging a socket one size down onto it with a hammer. If that doesn't help, drill off the head then when you remove the bracket you can extract the stud that is left over.

Unfortunatly it's a bolt as stated. I can't get a hammer in that area. I have a feeling i'm gonna need to drill it out.
Boo to that. :/ -mike |
try using those pliers that lock, shit I cant remember what there called
|
vice grips...........they work pretty well. had to use them to attempt to get a bolt off of my turbo downpipe connection. i got them on the nut real well, but unfortuantely, the bolt head started stripping too, so i had to go another route. but good luck getting it off
|
spray lots of wd40 on all of them and let it soak before you do any more damage. Then take vice grips to it.

Sears sells a set of sockets they call "stripped bolt removers" or something like that. Looking at them head on they look sorta clover shaped. You could also try to trick of putting a chisel into it at an angle and hammering so the chisel spins the bolt.
|
Well, I think i'm going to end up chizeling the head of the bolt off. I drilled through it and that didn't really do anything. I tried to put a screw driver through the hole but that just bent the screw driver :P
But I LOVE SEARS so i'm gonna try the stripped bolt removers out. |
try using a dremel and cut off wheel, cutting a vertical slot on the bolt, then using a flathead screwdriver to get it out. works for us rc racers when the screws under the chassis gets stripped
|
not enough room for that unfortunatly.
I'm gonna do the hammer chisel thing. |
