Strength questions of S5 N/a diff's

I'm working on some power projects that will likely put me in the 190-220whp range for my GTU so drive train problems are on my mind. I wanted to know if anyone had really done some tests or has extensive experience with open diff''s out of S5's(S4's are the same?) compared to S4 LSD's(i'm not about to drop 4.3's into a daily driver).

What's so bad about 4.3's on a daily driver? Gas mileage? Your tuning will more than make-up for that, my GTUs got 28mpg on average. Anyway, I'm pushing well over 300 on my s4 open diff without issues, and I'd say at least 250 on the s5 viscious LSD without grenading it yet. So I think 200 will be pretty safe.

Coo cool about the 4.3's its mostly the added wear of being generally higher in the rpms. I'll also be using 93 octane(94 if I can find it in town) to help ward off ping so fuel economy needs to be the highest possible. I dunno if I can get 28mpg in 105+ F summer weather Sonic ;)

Mine was in 95+ with about 90% humidity. :) Though I hear you about saving whatever you can for 93, shit is expensive! I definatly think it'll hold up on power. I ran an 11.42 in the sport with the stock drivetrain, and it's been going for about 6 months without so much as losing a u-joint. I think though if you go with some sticky tires that you'll be in for some trouble. I'm still running street tires so I just spin them half the damn time.

I think the halfshafts brake before the diff goes,.. so there shouldnt be any difference LSD or not.

Yes, there is. You're more likely to hook up two tires than 1, thus, an open is less likely to break because it takes less strain, meaning you can spin that one tire a lot easier, which is why mine hasn't grenaded yet. :)
