Streetporting is done, now guestions?

ok had my engine rebuilt with streetporting, now it seems to lose power over 5k. Am I hitting boost cut? How would I know? Does the streetporting shorten the power band? It doesn't fell as fast as it was before the porting. Also as a side note, it puffs white/blue smoke when I stop. Its not oil I don't think, I think its gas but it has a weird smell. Thanks, Chris

Actually if you have streetported the motor you should GAIN HP over the previous motor after 5k. From what Ive heard, boost cut is like hitting the revlimiter. Should be easy to tell. White smoke is coolant/water, Blue smoke is oil, black smoke is fuel. correct me if I am wrong.

I do belive your right on the different color gases, but I can't be sure what it is? Its not losing coolent, its not burning more oil than it should, but it uses a lot of gas. I think its more boost cut than anything, I've got a K&N filter, RB downpipe, RB high flow cat, Greddy Power Extreme, and 8mm wires.

Thats strange. . .
You should have a significant power gain at about 4k and beyond.
Is this a new/reman motor; or did you just send out the housings to be ported? A little background on the engine would be a big help.
If you are blowing unburnt fuel, which I thought just caused backfire, then you are not igniting completely. Offhand, I would check your plug wires and inspect the plugs for corrosion. maybe you are running too rich and fouling the plugs. Like I said, some more specific information would help us.
Who did the engine work?

Check your timing.

Is this a BIG STREETPORT or MILD STREETPORT?..

It's probably something simple: swapped vac lines, no leading spark, low fuel pressure, weak ground, etc. You have probably checked these, but something has blindsided you. Just check again.

its a '87 TII with Mild Streetporting, the enigne was rebuilt from two different TII engines by Rotor Sports Racing, and has the mods listed in my last post (above). Anything else you need to know? Thanks for the help. Chris

You got enough fuel going in there?

Else, your ignition system might be breaking up.&nbsp Swap new plugs and sark plug wires.&nbsp A CDI box might help in this case...
