street port, bridge port???
 

Ok here goes,

Street port for the street right, well why can't you run a bridge port on the street?

Does anyone know who can do this, Reasonable price for the job type of idea here, no jacked up prices for the same thing that someone else can do cheaper?

Any help on this would be great, Im about to pull my motor i think and rebuild it.

And also what is having it pinned? Adding extra dowl pens maybe?? I think so, but not sure. How much boost could i run with this<

You can easily run a half-bridgeport on the street, its just less streetable than a street port. Where have you heard that bridgeports aren't streetable?

I would recommend Rob at Pineapple Racing. Money that I'm saving for p-port will go to him. He is one of the most well known builders in the rotary community.

what makes it not as streetable??

Just what I have heard but; Makes it idle rough/shitty, Less longevity on the motor.

Eventually the bridge breaks or cracks from all the stress, its also less streetable because of the lack of low-end power. It makes up for it in the top end though, makes up for it like shit.

that and the fact you will be running at like 10000 rpm... because a P-port and bridge port purpose if for high end power so you'd want to upgrade the eshaft and misc bits so it can take extended high rpm use...

btw you'd be like at 100+ db which is quite illegal anywhere... i'm sure if you can be heard 5 blocks away it means its illegal

8500rpm is sufficient for street/circut/semi drag semi bridgey motor

It all depends on what you consider Streetable? if you are used to a nice std production car then no a bridge is not streetable but if you like to fight with it in trafic and have a good bank balance (for the fuel0 get it done but from experiance i'd get a big Extended port done, after all what Bhp do you want?

i have a bridge ported 12a 83, and its kinda half streetable and half not ..it idles at 1000-1200 and it does kinda shake the whole body in idle lol u feel it.. but the power gain!!!!! is incredible!!!! but the gas mileage... sucks!!!!! and shifting at 10,000 is also tha shyzett.. but since u have turbo.. bridge isnt really recommended... if i were u i would go with a mild street port.. as far as engine life ... ive had this engine for 3 years and still runnin strong... but then again they say 12a's can withstand more stress because of the 3mm apex seals..

i have a Bridge Ported Turbo....its a 89 , with only 2000 miles on the engine.... my gas mileage is around
180-250..........i guess thats good.. but then again its only my Daily Driver....:D :D , it idles at 1.50-1.75 and yes it beats the shit out of the turbo....i have to get an upgraded turbo. but for now, i have to stick with stock turbo. i have no money :mad: :mad: ...... but the power on my FC is incredible, HP= 205... Torque=279.8...

Nobody said you CANNOT run a BP on the street...
The BP makes less power then an SP at below ~ 4,000RPM.
Fuel economy is signficantly lower due to inefficiency at lower RPM's.
When the bridge breaks (and it will), it's going to take the entire motor with it - you'd be extremely lucky to have any of the major internal engine parts salvagable.


Supply and demand...basic economics.&nbsp Defined "jacked up prices"...&nbsp I've seen everything from $50 per port to $100 per port.&nbsp Porting quality is suspect from some shops, so try and see if you can get references to their work, if possible.


In terms of rotors?


You thinking about making over 400hp?&nbsp If not, this is a waste of time...

Welp..., I have almost 700 miles on my full bridge ported TII. I don't recommend it if you want a quiet, smooth car.

I've done up to about 14 psi boost with another forum member in the car. Where're you at man :)

When started cold:
I have to keep it at at least 2.5k rpm or else it dies.

When warmed:
It idles at 1850(1700 Haltech).

Slow corner:
I will be in first gear or, I will have to slip the clutch a little as I come out of the corner, to prevent bogging.

Cruising:
It's about the same as my street port except that if you drove down a street at 35 mph in fourth or fifth gear with a street port, you will be driving in the next lower gear. 35 mph for me is usually 3rd gear. I can usually do 4th gear at 40 mph.

Driving:
There is more torque. I can't drive at less than about 3k rpm anyway so, in the proper gear for the speed, the car seems much more powerful. I like it. Boost is like "right now".

Ass-Hauling:
By the time you get the clutch fully engaged, you are doing at least 3.5k rpm anyway so, the below 4k rpm potential problem probably ain't gonna be a problem.
