the story so far

okay so, i smogged my fc the other day. It failed, too many hydrocarbons which the smog technician told me is because my car is running rich. also after the smog test the tech left the 7 running.... i hear that horrible sound of pressurized liquid leaving the system. he head blown my upper radiator hose. i can see the obvious problems but the rich situation has me confused. i also believe i have a bad water thermosensor. any thoughts on this situation would be highly appreciated. i will post exact numbers of hydrocarbons on the smog test tomorrow to give you guys a better idea of whats going on.

Obvious, questions are obvious.
Did the car overheat before it blew the hose?
How old was the hose?

GIVE SOME DETAILS ON THE CAR! WE CAN'T READ YOUR MIND.

Year/Model/Mileage/How long have you had it?

It honestly sounds like the car is in poor condition. Richness would indicate it needs a simple tuneup, or maybe some service work like injector cleaning.

Overheating and blowing a cooling house, well, that should not happen if the car is left to idle. You're going to have to troubleshoot the cooling system:
