Stock boost sensor questions
 

Hey guys

As noted in FSM, stock boost gauge should go to zero when key ON, and then once started and idling it should be showing vacuum.

Whats wrong when it doesnt go to zero when key on? When i apply pressure to boost sensor, it seems to be working, but it doesn`t do that zero at key on. It was working before, i suspect some of grounding problem? Replacing boost sensor did not helped. Any ideas? FSM not really helped.

How close to zero is it? It could be something as simple as a gauge that hangs up at a certain point until actual pressures move the indication again...If it works great at all other times (or seems to), why worry about it?

It does not do anything on key ON

do you have an fcd?

no fcd, car is stock

Mine just died the other day...but yes it goes to zero when accessories are on, but the car is not started.

A lot of turbo cars boost gauge needle will not go all the way to zero. It's not an uncommon problem.

Try this: Pull the vacuum line off the boost sensor. Plug that line. Leave the boodt nipple open.

Start the car. Most likely the boost gauge needle will now come closer to being on zero.

The lesson I think I learned from this is........that the problem is voltage related or maybe the contacts on the back of the combination meter need to be cleaned and reinstalled. Try it and see what your results are and if you agree with what I think.

Mine does it all the time. Tap the gauge cluster, it makes it start working!

I'd get an aftermarket boost gauge too, it's a good investment..

i have that probem..with a stock rx7 turbo( no boost controller) you might find yourself not boosting all the way...does that happen to you?..feels low on power sometimes??

hard to say since i have not driven that car for few months and its not really compareable to my other FC

so pull the boost sensor out of your other car and see what happens

My other car has no boost sensor, its running on Haltech (and MAP sensor)

Maah, i am having the same problem, the boost gauge works intermittenly but mostly not at all. changed the sensor, still the same. To tell wether it's a wireing problem between the sensor and ecu, pull the codes, if you get a pressure sensor code (code 13) the the ecu is not seeing the correct voltage numbers from the pressure sensor as they relate to the AFM. In the FSM is says if the Pressure code is thrown, it changes the fuel map (most likely to full rich) and fixes the timing ( no advance). This i can verify kills LOADS of power. It tells how to fix the problem in the FSM (page f2-25 under fuel and emission systems). I'm thinking its a bad ground. I haven't got around to fixing it yet though. thought i'd add a little,
