and why the ... duz it say Exhaust leak by my name?

koukifc3s 07-16-04 12:34 PM

to disarm the alarm you have to open the lock on the driver's side.
Now my old alarm went of for no reason but it turned out that it was because water went in the hatch and the car thought it was open.
I fixed my hatch drains and it was better...

Are your windows and moonroof closed? Because mine will go off if they're open. Other than that, I really have no idea. Check the sensors on both sides before the hatch as well as the one next to the moonroof controls if you have them.

as covered before:

10thAE models have an ultra sonic sensor that can trip because of air movement if the windows or roof are left open. These sensor were the precursers to todays feild (radar) sensors).

His problem (if he does not have a 10thAE) is probably a bad or dirty door latch.

I've gotten (mildly) flamed for suggesting this, but I'll offer it to you. You can disconnect the control box behind the glove compartment and stop the noise. Then you can collect your thoughts and troubleshoot it with less stress.
It's very easy to get to when you remove the glove box. I have a good picture if you need to see it.

that is so weird cause i am having the same problem now!

jacobcartmill 07-18-04 03:01 PM

make sure that your drivers side DOOR HANDLE isnt sticking when you lock the doors and have to hold the handle up.

my drivers side door handle was sticking so the alarm would go off after like 2-3 minutes because it thought that someone was holding the door handle up trying to open it or something.

edit: also, i have an s5 so i'm not sure of the differences between that and the s4..

mine just wont work at all. i noticed that the lights warning beeper stopped working about the same time my stock alarm quit working. wondered if they use the same electrical components or have something in common. where do i start looking?

All the USA models I have seen have had it, but it is an option so I suppose that some may not have it.

"His problem (if he does not have a 10thAE) is probably a bad or dirty door latch."

Mark, when you say "latch" you mean the thing you push up and down to lock the door on the inside, correct?

Mine has gotten to where it only sometimes will work the passenger side door lock when I lock the driver's side and my alarm is doing weird things also. The beeping ,when I lock the doors, is weird now also.

I haven't tried to clean them yet, and plan to do that first, but wanted to make sure that's what you are talking about.

Thanks,

ck
