Stereo turns off when the daytime running light turns on.
Hi,
I have a 87 Turbo II, It has misclaneus electrical problems such as the idiot light not functioning right, clock turns on and off randomly. But the current problem I am trying to solve is related to the stereo system. I bought the car without stereo, and today I finally got a stereo for it. After the install, everything seems fine, until I turn my daytime running light on. When the light is on, the stereo turns off. I tested the power source from the stock wire, and I found that the power goes from 12v to 1.2v when light turns on. Has anybody run into a similar problem before? Any advice on areas to look into would be appreciated. If not, is there any way to bypass stock wiring while still has close to stock functions such as stereo turns on when the key is at ON only. I would suspect your car either has bigger electrical issues than you know or your install is flawed.

are you sure you got the correct power wire? sounds like you are tapping into the dimmer circuit which is ground switched.

i only tested the stereo with stock wire power source, only 3 wires, I am not sure what can i do wrong as far as testing the unit by applying power through stock wire

just double checked again with the FSM, it's the 1 pin connector battery wire for power and ground to the metal chassis, ACC on the 3 pin connector where antenna relay and illumination connector is.
That's how I am suppose to wire the power right? |
DRL?
Da fuq im reading? Is this a canadian car? |
