steering wheel restoration.....
Is there any way to restore a ripped/torn wheel? I have a TII wheel on my 89 and its really messed up but its hard to find a good stock one for a good price so I want to see what I can do. Has anyone tackled this? I don't want to buy a wheel cover at all those things suck. How about re-wrapping it in leather?

I would suggest a wheel cover... not one of the cheap, 12 dollar ones from walmart, but a leather one, that ties on.. It is secured with strings, sorta like a shoe lace?
I just bought a steering wheel from NoNameo that has one on it, it looks and feels great. The only thing about them is that it does take about an hour to put on properly (i've helped friends with it before) lemme find a pic here... It is much nicer in person, but you get the idea. http://www.joshanddanielswebsite.com...o_DCP02901.JPG |
My leather was in bad shape. It was as if it was covered in "paint", and the "paint" along the top was starting to chip off, revealing grey underneath. It wasn't torn, though.
I used black shoe polish on it and it looks 100% better. Just a suggestion. |
